Please refer to this honest review of lingual orthodontic treatment~

I finished orthodontic treatment after a little over 3 years, and I remember how I used to go around looking for a lot of information, so I’m leaving a review in hopes it helps a little~ My teeth were severely protruding buck teeth, so my mouth was protruded too. I had 5 teeth extracted in total: 2 upper teeth + 1 wisdom tooth, and 2 lower wisdom teethㅠㅠ Even that wasn’t enough, so they also filed down quite a lot of the gaps between my teeth. Fortunately, they did everything as safely as possible, so I didn’t have sensitivity or discomfort. I had lingual orthodontics on the upper teeth, with the brackets on the inside, and on the lower teeth they were visible. A lot of people don’t even realize I’ve had orthodontic treatment, since it’s almost not noticeable. I had also heard things like my pronunciation would get worse, but for me it wasn’t really uncomfortable. What I liked most was that food gets stuck in braces a lot, but with lingual braces, even when food got stuck, you couldn’t see it, so I didn’t have to worry about it, which was the best part. I was told regular braces would cost around 600,000 to 650,000 won, but since I did lingual orthodontics it cost 800,000 won, and I paid 400,000 up front and the remaining 400,000 in installments over 6 months. If you talk to them about installment payments, I think they’ll adjust it well. There were no extra charges and no monthly fees, and once I paid 800,000 won, they took responsibility until the end. At the end, there’s a retainer-type thing you take in and out so the teeth don’t shift back; they said it was okay to use it or not, but I got one for 300,000 won. But from experience, I think it’s definitely better to buy it and wear it when you sleep. It’s been about 6 months since I finished, and if I don’t wear it for a while because I’m lazy, then put it in again after a long time, it feels extremely tight.. I was satisfied after orthodontics because my buck teeth were so severe. It was stressful.. My protruded mouth also moved inward. My mouth line used to be crooked, but now it looks neat. It feels like my image is more put together. And because so many teeth were extracted, my jawline had become a bit angular too, but it got slimmer, so I think it was a good choice. But seriously, your cheeks lose volume.... I was really shocked. They suddenly hollowed out. I’m thinking of getting fat graftingㅠㅠ But since I naturally had little cheek fat to begin with, I think it was even more noticeable. My friend, though, lost cheek volume in a pretty way, so it makes her look even more V-line. Still, because my jaw became slimmer, if I get fat grafting, I think it might give the effect of having had double jaw surgery? Lastly, about the hospital: I had it done at the ㅎㅇㅌ Dental Clinic in Apgujeong. It’s a famous hospital that celebrities also go to, so you might know it. I went because it was well-known and large.. I was anxious because I needed a lot of extractions, but here there was a separate specialist for extractions and also a separate orthodontic doctor, so I chose it. The results seemed fairly good. But there were also a lot of unpleasant experiences while going there.. Because it’s a big hospital, it feels like they see patients as money too much. After everything was done, they told me to get treated for cavities, and when I got examined, they said I had 5 cavities and that if I used high-quality materials it would cost 80,000 won per tooth, so maybe 400,000 won? That’s what they said. I thought that was a bit much, so I went to a neighborhood dental clinic, and they said there weren’t really any cavities that needed treatment, and that only 2 would probably need to be done.. They used insurance-covered material, 10,000 won per tooth; it didn’t seem like a particularly good material, but it was white so you couldn’t see it, which was niceㅡ.ㅡ And there was a slightly decayed area, but they said if it’s managed well it won’t be a problem, and that treating it would actually require shaving off a lot of tooth structure, so it would be worse..... Well, since it’s a large hospital, I just let it go; The most annoying part was that there are too many patientsㅡㅡthe hospital has the upper hand Seriously, if you want evening treatment or Saturday appointments, you have to fight for 10 minutes just to book them.. They even say things like you should take half a day off work to come. People really do argue at the counterㅋㅋ.. Honestly, I think the nurses would be annoyed too, and since so many people are concentrated there, I think there’s no helping it. If it’s not the morning, you usually have to wait 20 to 40 minutes at minimum.. Thanks to that, I read a lot of books. That doesn’t mean the nurses are rude or anything; they’re still pretty good to you. If you look at it positively, you could also think that they’re so good that there are many patients. Anyway, if you dislike that kind of thing, think it through carefully. And this was my own experience when I went there, so if the hospital expands or something like that, maybe you won’t have to wait. One more piece of advice: I think it’s better if the hospital isn’t too far away. When I consulted, they said it would probably take a little over 2 years, but it ended up taking longer than I expected. You have to go once a month, and if an appliance falls off or something seems wrong, you need to go right away for service, so distance really matters. If it’s a hospital you really want to go to, you might be able to put up with the inconvenience and keep going, but I think it’s better to think about it in advance. This got long as I wrote itㅋㅋ Anyway, I wrote honestly about my experience, so please use it as a reference~~ I had very severe buck teeth and also had a lot of extractions, so I think there were quite a lot of changes, and if you don’t need extractions or your teeth aren’t very crooked, you may not see a big change.
