I had the silicone removed today. It had been 7 years and 2 months since I had it done.
All this time, I lived thinking it was L-shaped silicone, but it wasn’t. Right before surgery, during the consultation, the doctor told me. They said it seemed to be straight silicone, and that the nasal bridge had been built with septal cartilage. This doctor is not the person who did my nose surgery 7 years ago, but someone else.
I had only thought it was L-shaped silicone all this time. How would I have known septal cartilage had been used.. I was so flustered I lost my words. They said that if it was L-shaped silicone, they would remove the L-shaped silicone as is, and if it was straight silicone with septal cartilage, they would remove only the silicone and leave the septal cartilage as it was. When they asked, “Should I remove everything for you?” I had a mental breakdown and couldn’t decide, so the doctor said the septal cartilage was my own tissue so it was fine to leave it, and that they would remove only the silicone. So I had it removed and came back.
Since I was removing it anyway, I regret thinking it would have been better to remove everything.. My nasal bridge has gotten lower, but now only the nasal tip is high.. At this rate, I may end up opening my nose one more time to remove the septal cartilage. What should I do?
