I had revision rhinoplasty on June 1, and it has now been a little over a month. I had the surgery because I wanted my nose to be a little higher than before, and silicone and septal cartilage were used.
During my first surgery, they said the bridge of my nose was slightly high, so they shaved down the nasal bridge and inserted a thin layer of Gore-Tex. They said my nose looked sharp, so they made the nasal tip a bit blunter and lifted the nose somewhat. It was a long time ago, so without a columellar strut, they only placed Gore-Tex slightly along the bridge. But I felt like my nose looked too upturned, so from 10 days after surgery I kept pulling the tip downward so it would come down, and the tip became slightly lower than the bridge. It was a very subtle difference, and it did not look obviously like a hump, so there was no major problem, but I got greedy..ㅠ I disliked that it looked too natural, so I went in for revision surgery this time.
My only goal was to make it a bit higher, but now they shaved my nasal bridge again. There had originally been no mention of shaving down the bridge, and I had asked so many times to make my nose a bit higher.. But the bridge is lower than before. It feels a bit like a beoseon-shaped nose? Because the bridge is slightly sunken while the nose is upturned, it looks even lower, and from the side it looks like I have no bridge ㅠ The area between my eyebrows is not high either. Overall, because the tip looks high compared with the bridge, the tip shape looks improved, but the whole nose has become lower. The tip height is the same as my previous nose, but because they shaved the bridge, the tip only seems relatively higher. I had surgery because I wanted it higher.. but my bridge has been shaved twice, and now I feel like I may have no nasal bridge left at all.
The problem is not only this. My nose looks crooked, the nostril shapes are different, and the slope angles on both sides of the nasal bridge are different.. I had none of this at all after the previous surgery. My nose originally did not have any significant deviation of the septum or anything like that. Before this surgery, I had a CT scan and consultation at an ENT clinic, so I know this accurately.
The hospital says it could be because of swelling, and that for people whose swelling lasts a long time it can take more than a year. But my nose is not even higher than before, and before I did not have swelling that looked like crookedness, so why is this happening? Do I really have to wait more than a year in this condition? And once all the swelling goes down, will the nose height become even lower than now?
One more thing. The splint covered down to the nasal bulb, so the bridge side was bent to fit my nose, right? When removing it, shouldn’t it be lifted off from bottom to top? Has anyone else had a bent splint removed sideways like me and ended up with a red nasal bridge? I thought I was going to die from the pain. I was so dumbfounded, but they said I was enduring it well. Is splint removal normally that painful?
I even wonder if that is why my nose became crooked.
