It’s been 14 years since I had nasolabial implant surgery in 2011 without thinking much of it. I didn’t have any major discomfort, but I didn’t feel any improvement in my nasolabial folds, and nothing looked different, to the point that no one would even know I’d had surgery..... Ugh, what a waste of money. But after getting the implants, I didn’t like that my dimples showed less, and I sometimes had pain, the positions on both sides were a bit different, and the fact that I had implants in my face kept bothering me and getting on my nerves. It felt like I was carrying a time bomb. I got married, had a child, and with this and that, 14 years just passed. I wanted to remove them, but since I’d done it without much thought when I was young, I couldn’t even remember the clinic where I had the surgery. Then I saw posts saying bone erosion could happen, and I felt like I really had to remove them, so I searched really hard online. The surgery I had done impulsively back then without fear now scared me, so I searched constantly for several days. This community really helped me a lot too. Then I chose one clinic, went for a consultation yesterday, and had surgery the same day. I wondered if I was being too impulsive again, but honestly, I was at the point where I was going crazy because I wanted them out immediately lol While researching, that clinic felt the most trustworthy, and aside from that place, there weren’t any other clinics that caught my eye, and I was satisfied with the consultation in many ways, so I had the surgery right away. After deciding on surgery, changing clothes before surgery, washing my face, and disinfecting the inside of my mouth were easy, but once I actually entered the operating room, I was so scared. But the nurses kept comforting me and helping me calm down. I was so grateful! The original nasolabial implant surgery was done through an intraoral incision, but the removal was done through an intranasal incision! They said that was a bit safer! There’s also almost no chance of touching the nerves. When I had the nasolabial implant surgery, sensation in my left cheekbone area came back after about two months. So I was scared of the removal surgery too. Anyway, for the surgery, I was under sedation briefly and then had local anesthesia. The removal was done quickly and well, but maybe because it had been so long, the silicone on the right side had adhesions, so the feeling of it being pulled off was kind of unpleasant, ugh. They showed me the removed silicone. Normally, it should be carved to fit the bone before insertion, but they said mine had just been put in exactly as it came from the factory. I guess I really had it done at a lousy place. Still, that place had photos of celebrities taken with the director and everything.. Looking back now, I feel like it was sheer luck that nothing major happened. Anyway, after the removal, they put tape all over my face. They said I could take it off the next day, so I came home, did cold compresses, took my medication properly, and slept well. This morning, I removed all the tape, and there was no bruising! There is some swelling, but it’s less than when I had the nasolabial implants done! When I touched the implant area, it used to feel hard, but now it’s soft with nothing there, so it was so fascinating lololol I feel so relieved, like I’ve gained freedom. Ah, as for pain, yesterday was the first day, and because of the intranasal incision, every time I breathed, my nostrils felt hot and stinging, but it wasn’t unbearable. And because there was tape stuck all over, my upper lip was fixed in place, so it was uncomfortable when eating, and it hurt when I smiled. It also hurt if I talked a lot. And today my nostrils don’t hurt! I’m fine! I removed all the tape too, so there’s no discomfort, I can eat well, and I’m okay. But when I had the nasolabial implants, I tended to have some pain on the left side. Maybe because of that, even now, the right side, which had adhesions and was pulled during surgery, actually feels light and comfortable, while the left feels a bit more swollen and more uncomfortable! There’s still swelling, so I don’t know whether the nasolabial area will become more sunken than before, but for now I’m really satisfied and relieved. When I was looking into nasolabial implant removal, there were so few reviews, so I wrote this! It seems like many people are thinking about removal, so I hope this helps even a little. Once the swelling goes down, I’ll come write another post!
