When I was in middle school, I suddenly grew taller and my jaw started to protrude. People around me said it would get better if I got orthodontic treatment, so I had braces for more than 4 years, but the impression of my jaw looking long still didn’t change.. Every time I took photos, I was bothered by how prominent my jaw looked, so I gradually started avoiding photos, and when I wore hats, my face felt even longer, so I stopped wearing hats too. I heard that if I grew my hair out, attention would go toward my hair, so I tried growing it out, but in the end I felt that if the fundamental problem wasn’t solved, it was no use, so I finally decided to have double-jaw surgery at EU. While looking into double-jaw surgery hospitals, I saw reviews of EU Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, and after watching YouTube videos where Director Kim Jong-yoon explained things, I developed trust and chose EU Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery! When I went for a consultation, they explained even detailed issues like my wisdom teeth, which other hospitals hadn’t mentioned, and when they said it would be better to remove the wisdom teeth first and have surgery a month later rather than operating right away, I trusted them even more and booked right away. Also, I really liked that they have an orthodontic department too, so care can be managed in one place! On the day of surgery, right after the surgery ended, I was completely out of it. My nose wasn’t as blocked or as difficult as I expected, but overall there was a sense of discomfort. Especially for me, my throat hurt a lot. Even swallowing saliva was hard. On the first night, I woke up every hour and couldn’t sleep properly, and because I was breathing through my mouth, my throat became even drier and more painful. Still, in the morning they disinfected the area and also did suction, so it got much better. Rather than the surgical area hurting, it was more like an overall uncomfortable feeling. After the tube in my nose and the urinary catheter were removed, I felt much more comfortable, and I was able to walk. On the first day I was a little dizzy, but by the second day I was bored and ended up looking at my phone often. After discharge, just being able to go outside made me feel really good. I heard that walking a lot helps reduce swelling, so I walked diligently. Because I walked a lot, I got very hungry, and although the swelling still hadn’t gone down, I could feel my body gradually getting more comfortable. I spent time thinking that I was getting even a little better every day. The pain gradually decreased, and it felt like almost all the discomfort had disappeared. I only hoped the swelling would go down quickly, and whenever I had time, I went to the hospital to get laser treatment too Now, at four months, I felt that the swelling had gone down much more compared with a month ago. When eating, even opening my mouth wide didn’t feel strange at all, and I recovered enough to eat a hamburger without any problem haha. And before I knew it, four months had passed, I’ve gotten used to the orthodontic treatment, and I can hardly believe time has passed this quicklyㅋㅋㅋ Before, I checked the swelling in the mirror every day, but now it looks natural enough that I don’t have to look in the mirror. They say swelling keeps going down for up to 1 year, so I’m even more looking forward to how I’ll look going forward!!! Thank you, Director Kim Jong-yoon!!!
