Last year, during facial contouring surgery for inflammation at the tip of my chin, I suffered a brain hemorrhage, became unconscious, and ended up as a person with quadriplegic paralysis. I am currently preparing legislation with other victims of medical accidents. There has not been a single word of apology. I am even still paying installments to that hospital. The hospital does not care at all. I am still paying them money as if to say, “Thank you for making me disabled like this^^” At least I survived, so I can speak out like this, but in the recent cases of victims who died because of vaginal filler, their bereaved families are criticizing the problems of this abnormally developed cosmetic surgery industry on their behalf. There is no obligation to inform patients of side effects, only surgical consent forms meant to avoid responsibility, and with reckless approvals in a cosmetic surgery industry that has no patient protection system, victims are continuing to appear one after another. (Please make sure to search for medical accidents involving the surgery or procedure you are considering! I only found out while preparing legislation, but there were as many as 3 victims who lost vision in one eye after receiving forehead filler.) Reckless approval of hospitals, unverified surgeries and procedures such as quick cheekbone reduction and vaginal filler, all of it. In order to put a scalpel to the entire cosmetic surgery industry that only fills the pockets of plastic surgeons, I have decided to go through the legislative process together with a member of the National Assembly who wants to reform Korea’s abnormal medical system, where only plastic surgery is considered so-called profitable. To those who are considering surgery, do not think, “Everyone gets cosmetic surgery, so I’ll be fine,” and place yourself on an operating table where your life could be torn apart. If you have still decided to proceed, I hope you thoroughly research the hospital, the director, and possible side effects before doing it.
