About 13 years ago, my revision surgery settled well and I was living fine, but because of an accident my nose was fractured. My nose, teeth, and jaw were badly torn too... First I got my jaw sutured, went to the dentist, and went around for consultations. My face also had severe fractures, so I had bruising and my face was extremely swollen while I went to consultations. I’ve liked procedures and surgeries since I was young, so I had done little things here and there. When I was younger, I did a lot of things without really looking into them and also had a lot removed, so now I tend to research carefully before doing anything. When I did my nose 13 years ago, I went to as many as 25 consultations, and it turned out well, so I lived without complications. Then this time, unexpectedly, I had to have surgery because of an accident. I had been satisfied with my nose and thought it would be my last nose, so it was such a shock. It hurt too ㅠㅠ With this face, I only went to about five consultations. I went to an ENT/plastic surgery clinic, a place famous for fractures, and the hospital from 13 years ago too. There was a place I liked, but the surgery time was 7 hours, so because of the burden of sedation anesthesia, I just put down a deposit for the time being. I didn’t worry about losing the deposit because my nose was important, so I had booked more consultations. (Actually, I put down deposits at two places and lost them ㅠㅠ) While going to consultations, I got a certain feeling at Lowell Plastic Surgery, and they listened carefully to my story and the direction I wanted. Because my nose was badly injured, I had heard that for an injured nose, only reduction should be done first and surgery should be done a few months later, so I was very worried. But Director Kim Jae-yoon calmly explained everything well, and while I was asking various questions, he said we should do a pretty revision rhinoplasty with autologous costal cartilage. I got a good feeling and decided right away. After deciding, I canceled three consultations and had surgery two days later. It was sedation anesthesia, but the time was short. I’m the type who keeps contacting the clinic afterward if there is even a slight issue with my nose, so aftercare was important to me, and that’s why I chose Lowell, a one-doctor clinic. They also provide skin care after rhinoplasty and scar laser care after autologous costal cartilage surgery. I had met a few directors before who acted like they didn’t care afterward, so now I’ve become more cautious. I’ve always liked procedures, so I research dermatology clinics a lot too, focusing much more on what is good and who does it well rather than price. I also like home care. My surgery was in the afternoon that day, so I rested well before going. Even before entering surgery, I briefed the doctor again, clearly, on what kind of nose I wanted, then we did facial design, and they designed on a pad what the shape would be like before surgery. From the same day, I did cold compresses, slept sitting up, and gathered everything related to swelling, so I really did all kinds of things. O2 booster, hyperbaric oxygen, walking, three types of swelling medication, swelling slippers, rented regenerative LED, and so on. I did them every day, all paid for by myself!! Some of these worked and some were not good, but I just did everything. I normally swell easily, and I needed it to go down quickly ㅠㅠ As aftercare, I got swelling injections four times, and those were effective. Honestly, even if they contain steroids, this amount is okay, and because reducing swelling was more important to me, the effect was good. Whenever something seemed off in between, I contacted the counseling manager, and then they would tell me to come in the next day right away. They resolved things immediately like that, and communication was good. On the day I removed the splint, I thought, “It’s ruined...” But since my nose had been injured and I also had osteotomy, I was more swollen than with my previous surgeries, and I just wasn’t used to it. Now at 3 weeks, I know it will get prettier, so I’m adjusting well. My older sisters and friend said it isn’t hugely different from my previous nose, but it looks a bit more sophisticated and subtly prettier. The nose. I didn’t want it to change too much from my previous nose. I’m satisfied, and I hope the swelling goes down quickly.
