About 3 years ago, I had my first surgery with silicone and ear cartilage. At first, they told me it was swelling and to wait, so I waited, but the swelling never went away and just stayed the same. Maybe it hadn't healed inside, because it really started lifting very gradually.. After 3 years, the contracture became extremely severe, and I honestly thought I was going to develop social phobiaㅠㅜ
Originally I had a severe hump nose, and the nasal tip was so droopy it was almost like an arrow nose, but once contracture happened, it really kept lifting. I could see the nasal tip clumping and rising..
I felt like I really couldn't go on like that, so I looked into clinics for over a year, chose a place where I could avoid implants, and had surgery last week. I've had the splint and all the stitches removed, and this place already feels truly different haha Of course there is swelling, but the upturned nose has been completely improved, and the bluntness of the nasal tip has also slimmed down nicely. The nasal line came out pretty, and my nose feels like it gives my face a firm center.
More than anything, the reason I wasn't anxious after surgery was partly because they didn't use silicone, but also because the clinic really took good care of me. I think I went five times in one week, and on one of those days, I stayed at the clinic all day while they checked my progress. The only thing left to the nurse was giving injections; the director checked my nose, ears, and the area where the costal cartilage was harvested, to the point that I wondered if I really needed to go this often.
For me, the top priority was lowering my lifted nose, so I was okay with using costal cartilage. I just didn't want silicone, and I only looked at clinics that seemed to lengthen the nose a bit if anything. I had heard costal cartilage is hard, but I didn't mind. If the shape was good and contracture didn't come back, I was willing to accept the firmness. But in the end, it's much softer than when I had contracture with ear cartilage. I like that it doesn't feel hard and stiffㅠㅜ
I'm still recovering, so I'll need to watch it a bit longer, but this time I'm extremely satisfied. If someone asked, I think I could recommend it. I had it done at ㅌㄹㄷ, and they definitely have their own style. Some people say they dislike it because it seems like they make the nose long, but I don't think mine ended up long.
I'm not planning to share photos yet, so I thought I'd at least post this in case it helps anyone. It seems like many people are struggling because of contracture, and seeing that makes me really upsetㅠㅜ If you have questions, leave a comment and I'll reply as soon as I check them~
