I had surgery during winter break in college in 2009. It’s already been 8 years. To start with the conclusion, it looks so natural that I almost feel like these were my eyes from the beginning lolololol I didn’t look into this clinic and that clinic.. and I didn’t think about it for long either. Actually, my aunt had it done and it looked pretty, so I impulsively made a sudden decision -_-; (Everyone, please still look into it carefully and make a cautious decision.)
Originally, one of my eyes only had a line(?) for a double eyelid, and the other had an inner double eyelid that would sometimes flip into an outer double eyelid -_-; So throughout my school years, every time I took an ID photo, I used double eyelid glue for the picture. I heard double eyelid glue was bad, so I never used it in daily life. I mean, if I wasn’t going to have them, then don’t have them at all.... if I was going to have them, then have them on both sidesㅠㅠㅠ My parents aren’t like this, so why only meㅠㅠㅠㅠ I got stressed every time I took photos, so I just made up my mind.
Clinic/doctor name: The clinic closed down...^^; I only have the manager’s business card, so it’s useless....
Cost: 1,000,000 + VAT
Consultation details: The manager first told me to choose between an in-fold and out-fold, so I chose an in-fold, and I asked them to make it as natural as possible without being greedy. Neither the doctor nor the manager tried to persuade me at all to also get epicanthoplasty or lateral canthoplasty, and they said it wasn’t severe, but I seemed to have slight ptosis tendencies and some fat in my upper eyelids, so they told me to do incisional surgery instead of non-incisional suture surgery.
At the time, I simply thought non-incisional suture surgery was a bit cheaper, so I was suspicious that they were recommending incisional surgery just because it cost a little more haha. But afterward, the double eyelid line came out to my liking, and since I’m still satisfied now, I think the incisional method was right for my eyes.
Recovery period: It was so long ago that I don’t have photos. From the afternoon to evening on the day of surgery, of course I was very swollen, and the next morning I was so swollen and red that I worried the stitches might burst, but from day 3, the swelling started going down quickly. I had no conjunctivitis? or bloodshot eyeballs at all. After the stitches were removed, I swelled slightly once more, but after one week post-op, the swelling had gone down quickly enough that I could just walk around outside, and about 10 days after surgery, school started, so I wore non-prescription glasses and went to school, and everyone said it turned out pretty and well. Maybe it was also because the double eyelid line wasn’t set too aggressively, but swelling goes down at different speeds for different people, and I think mine was fast.
Pros: Natural / my asymmetrical eyes were “improved” - the doctor said he would do eye shape correction together. (But since my eyes were originally asymmetrical, they’re still not completely symmetrical now, and when I open my eyes, the double eyelids offset the asymmetry!)
Cons: There’s a slight scar when I close my eyes, but it’s not enough to bother me..? / When washing my face and so on, water definitely flows into my eyes a lot more. (Increased eye fatigue)
Reason I joined even though I’m satisfied with my double eyelid surgery: After getting double eyelid surgery, every time I look in the mirror, I’ve lived with the thought “Ah..... I should have gotten lateral canthoplasty too” for 8 years..! I have a lot of lingering regret about lateral canthoplasty. Now, on one hand, I think it’s fortunate that I know incisional lateral canthoplasty is a surgery many people advise against. On the other hand, I learned about non-incisional lateral canthoplasty, and after seeing a friend who actually had it done, I made up my mind.
