For functional surgery, I had surgery for rhinitis, septal deviation, and nasal valve reconstruction. For cosmetic surgery, I had the nasal bridge (about 3 mm silicone) + nasal tip (using septal cartilage) + correction of a deviated nose + removal of nasal fat.
I had a lot of osteotomy done, and functional surgery was a bigger surgery than I expected, so I’m having a much harder time compared with people who only had cosmetic surgery. The swelling lasts long, and I have to do nasal irrigation 4 times a day, etc. If I don’t rinse my nose, it gets blocked in just one day with something like blood scabs? Anyway, they say I absolutely have to do it 3-4 times a day for a month, and it’s more annoying than I expected. But even when my nose is blocked with blood scabs, I can breathe better than before lol My septal deviation was really severe, so the left side was about 1/10 of normal findings (I could barely breathe through my left nostril), and the right side was about 1/5, so breathing had been really difficult, but anyway this has improved a lot.
However, I have quite a few regrets about the cosmetic part Nothing terrible like inflammation/contracture has happened yet, but..
First, with the bridge, I regret not raising it a bit more even if it would look noticeable. I should have gone with around the mid-4 mm range.. It didn’t get as high as I expected. If possible, I think it’s better to make it clearly higher even if it looks a bit obvious (of course, you have to consider harmony with other facial features too). For the tip, I used septal cartilage. I had a bulbous nose with a blunt tip, but even after gathering the tip, it didn’t improve as much as I thought. Of course it’s better than before, but there is still a bulbous-nose feel. I had heard for a long time that bulbous noses are hard to correct, so my expectations weren’t high, but it feels like even those weren’t met.. And because of the characteristics of septal cartilage, the nasal tip is very hard. At this rate, I wonder if I should have just used ear cartilage lol
The deviated nose was corrected well, so I don’t have anything else to say about that.
They said they removed a huge amount of fat because my nose had a lot of fat, but why does the effect not look that big? I think it’s easier mentally to just give up on a bulbous nose. Well, to say it once again, of course it is definitely better than not doing it. But it’s at a level where it’s better not to have expectations..
It’s not exactly that the money feels wasted or anything, but honestly, since I put silicone in my nose, I have to live always carrying worry about side effects, and compared with that risk, I’m quite disappointed with the surgical result.
I think living with a bulbous nose as it is isn’t bad either. Especially since I wasn’t even a severe bulbous-nose case and it’s still like this, for people with severe bulbous noses, I think it would be much better not to get nose surgery.
And no matter how pretty the eyes and nose are, I think facial contour is muuuuch more important. After getting my nose done, I really desperately want facial contouring If not for the side effects, I think I would have done it even if I had to go into debt..
