I had double eyelid surgery around February after all my college entrance exams in my senior year of high school were over! It was 5 years ago, so I just remember it was a little over 1 million won because of some discount event...(not exact)
What I heard before going 1. I heard that if you get it done here, your eyes become more round 2. A friend from middle school had eye surgery here and it turned out naturally and well (she was already naturally pretty) 3. A relative had surgery here and it suited them well ㅇㅇ(this was the deciding factor, so my mom brought me to the hospital)
Consultation I only remember that it was fast ㅎ They said it would end up as a partial crease later. At that time I was just going in to get the surgery over with like homework, so I agreed without much thought.. (I do regret it sometimes.. I had a lot of eye fat + a narrow distance between my eyebrows and eyes + ptosis, so I think a thin line was inevitable)
Surgery Ptosis correction + double eyelid incision + fat removal! It was local anesthesia. They played music, and it was dance music, but I was scared of the operating room, so I asked them to play ballads instead ㅎ... funny. Anyway, they kept asking me to open my eyes now and then. But near the end I was like, why am I suddenly opening my eyes wider now? and it felt like they undid the thread and tied it again..ㅋㅋㅋ A friend who had it done at another hospital said she had sedation anesthesia, so that was surprising
After surgery (same day to 1 year) It hurt so much that I decided I would never have surgery again. It hurt so badly ㅋㅋ They told me to keep my eyes wide open to reduce swelling and stuff, but at that time I just half-assed it because of college admission and all that.. Since the swelling had not gone down much, I liked it when it was an in-out lineㅎㅎ.. Removing the stitches did not hurt. By around March or April, when I was going to school, the initial swelling had gone down. But after that, the residual swelling slowly kept going down
As for how the residual swelling changed, I think the difference was whether the double eyelid line got buried by the eye fat when I opened my eyes wide / or not?? Just my personal thought
Minor side effects Nothing serious, but I had inflammation near the outer corner of my eye. It was red and round.. I did nothing and it went away quicklyㅋㅋ And when I was tired, my double eyelids turned into a monolid-with-line. If I rubbed my eyes and stuff, it would disappear again
Current status (5 years later) Overall review Ah, I am satisfied that I can now open my eyes wide(以前 I could not press my forehead and force my eyes open at all. Of course, because I had ptosis) But now, maybe because it has loosened a little, my forehead kind of? twitches.. Still, the fact that I can open my eyes wide!! at all is amazing I hear that it looks natural really often. People just do not realize I had double eyelid surgery because it is a partial crease (though it is not a very deep partial crease either..). That might be part of it too.. Anyway, looking at old photos, it is better than having no crease at allㅎㅎㅎㅎ Because of the thick eye fat and the line getting buried in my lashes when I open my eyes wide, and because I thought it might be better if the in-out line were more distinct, I even considered revision surgery! But for now, just being natural feels like I already got my money's worth, so I am putting surgery thoughts on hold these days..
