After thinking about facial contouring for years, I finally went through with it. Every time I look in the mirror, I worry about whether this swelling will really go down someday,,, but even though it’s this puffy, I can clearly feel that my face itself is smaller than before, so I’m really looking forward to the swelling going down. <Day of surgery> There was almost no pain at the surgical sites, but the dizziness and nausea from the general anesthesia were really severe. If I stayed awake I felt like I was going to throw up, so I kept dozing off and waking up every 30 minutes. I had some phlegm, but my voice was only a little hoarse and it didn’t disappear completely. There was a bit of facial swelling, but no tightness. <Post-op day +1> The blood-tinged phlegm was extremely bad. My throat was completely hoarse too, so my voice was almost gone. I could really feel the facial swelling getting worse in earnest. My mouth was also so swollen that I was at the level of barely being able to swallow rice porridge... My mouth wouldn’t open at all, so I could only eat with a small ice cream spoon. <Post-op day +2> The phlegm was a little better than the day before. But my voice was even worse than the day before. The swelling also got worse. I had gotten so sick of only eating rice porridge that I ate nurungji water, soup, and castella. The castella was a bit hard to chew. <Post-op day +3> The phlegm improved a lot. It felt like the throat pain you get when a sore throat is starting to get better? My voice has improved too, but it’ll probably still take a long time to get back to my normal voice. The swelling seems even worse than the day before, but maybe I’ve just gotten used to the facial tightness because the tightness actually feels better. Personally, I think the phlegm and throat pain are more uncomfortable and harder to deal with than the swelling and tightness. I hope my voice comes back properly soonㅜㅜ The facial heat has almost gone away now, so I’m planning to switch to warm compresses starting from day 4, and I hope the swelling goes down well too!
