My cheekbones had stressed me out my whole life, so I thought I’d at least get a consultation and went to a clinic, then ended up having surgery. I don’t often have reasons to go to Seoul, so I narrowed down clinics online over and over and only had a consultation at Soda. I was going to not do it if the director said there wouldn’t be an effect. During the consultation, the director honestly explained that my face wouldn’t have a dramatic result, but within these limits, this kind of effect could be achieved, and that actually made me trust him more. They said that if I only did the cheekbones, I could choose between sedation and general anesthesia, and I was a little puzzled(?) because they said most people there do it under sedation, but the director seemed very confident, so I did it under sedation. Honestly, the surgery didn’t hurt at all, so I was actually surprised... For me, it was about the same as getting a wisdom tooth extracted! Swelling + the unpleasant feeling of not being able to brush my teeth + occasional nosebleeds during the first 2-3 days were the uncomfortable parts of the surgery, and the swelling also went down enough after about 2 weeks that, although I was still quite swollen, I could go about daily life. As for food, after a week I ate everything I wanted, and I think I started eating meat around the second week. It’s now been a little over 2 months, and most of the major swelling seems to be gone. The incision was made between the sideburn hairs, so honestly the scar isn’t even visible. I’m just living as if I forgot I had my cheekbones done,,, hahaha. The good thing about doing the cheekbones is that as the facial line becomes smoother, facial asymmetry looks much less noticeable and the impression looks softer. Also, the facial area has decreased, but as the midface gained dimension, the face looking broad and flat has largely disappeared. The director said that by 1-2 months, about 50% of the swelling has gone down, and the rest will slowly go down over the course of a year, so I’m looking forward to how it will change hahahaha
