First of all, my vision wasn’t extremely bad. My right and left eyes were about 0.1 and 0.2 respectively, and I had mild astigmatism and moderate astigmatism. So they said they would only shave off a small amount of cornea. I had the eye exam once at the hospital where I decided to have surgery, then had the surgery. The surgery time was only about 10 seconds..? For my left eye, which had slightly worse vision, maybe about 15-20 seconds? The LASEK I had was called Two-Day LASEK, a procedure done with a laser where you can remove the protective lens from 3 days afterward I just lay down, watched the blinking light for a bit, put on the protective lenses, and went home haha I couldn’t see anything in front of me.. And from when the anesthesia wore off, I really suffered a lot for 3 days Once the protective lenses were removed, it got much better though. For about the first 3 months, there were issues like my vision sometimes not looking clear, or feeling like the vision in my left and right eyes was different But after about 1 year, my vision definitely stabilized a lot haha The only problem seems to be that I’m overusing my eyes too much.. using my phone in the dark and stuff... Thankfully, I haven’t had vision regression, but I did think I should be more careful from now on.. And the side effects I was worried about (dry eyes, night glare/halos, overcorrection, etc.) didn’t happen at all haha Just a slightly stiff feeling when I open my eyes in the morning..? If anything, I think my dry eyes are better than when I wore contact lenses Anyway, there are probably a lot of people who are too scared to get LASEK or LASIK, but once you do it, the satisfaction can be bigger than expected and it may not be a big deal haha But side effects vary so much by person that I can’t say anything for certain Still, everyone around me who got LASIK or LASEK has been satisfied
