It has already been 8 months since I had double-jaw surgery. When I first decided to have double-jaw surgery, I had a lot of concerns. I wanted to resolve not only external changes but functional issues as well. Because my jaw was asymmetrical, I had discomfort when chewing, and I was also self-conscious about my side profile, so it was hard to smile naturally. As a result, my confidence kept dropping. I looked into several hospitals and had consultations, and in the end I chose a maxillofacial clinic with extensive experience in double-jaw and facial contouring surgery and systematic aftercare. Even at 7 months, I thought I had recovered almost perfectly, but after another month, it feels much more natural and comfortable. The swelling has completely gone down, and my facial lines have settled softly, so now I feel like this was my original face. People around me also say it looks so natural that they can hardly remember how I looked before, so I’m even more satisfied. The best change is definitely the comfort. At first there was a bit of awkwardness, but now I can live without any discomfort at all. In particular, eating has become so comfortable that I’m really happy! I can eat chewy or hard foods without burden, so I’m enjoying proper meals again after a long time! haha My sensation has also fully returned, so brushing my teeth and washing my face feel natural without any awkwardness, and I’m really relieved that the nerve sensation issue I worried about most after surgery is no longer uncomfortable at all. My orthodontic treatment has also entered the final stage, and I’m scheduled to remove my braces soon, so I’m looking forward to it even more. As my tooth alignment is being corrected, I think I’ll be able to smile even more beautifully haha When I first considered double-jaw surgery, I was worried that the recovery process would be long and difficult, but looking back now, I’m certain it was a really good choice. My self-esteem has improved, and meeting people has become more enjoyable. Now I’m satisfied when taking photos or looking in the mirror, and I no longer need to cover my mouth with my hand when I smile.
