A while ago, I had nose surgery as functional rhinoplasty using silicone, septal cartilage, and donated costal cartilage. For the first few months, breathing was more comfortable than before, but after the swelling went down, before even a year had passed, my rhinitis slowly started coming backㅠ As my nose tilted to one side, it started getting blocked again. As that gradually got worse, one side of my nose in particular became much more blocked, so I couldn't sleep at night and my quality of life completely dropped.. If anything, it felt more stuffy and harder than before the nose surgery, and because the nasal tip became hard, I couldn't even blow my nose the way I wanted, so it was even more uncomfortableㅠ
After deciding on removal, I went around for consultations. Some places said I needed revision surgery, and I was also told that this degree of tilting can happen and that I should just live with it..ㅡㅡ Since I had already made up my mind to remove everything, I didn't want to put anything in again, so I only looked into complete removal no matter what.
In the end, I had complete removal surgery, and now it's day 10. There is still swelling, but even so, breathing is more comfortable than before, and the nasal congestion while sleeping has improved a lot!!!! I woke up today and my nose wasn't very blocked, and I really slept so well, so I'm writing this because I feel good.
In my case, the columellar strut had also been thickly reinforced with donated costal cartilage, so the airway had narrowed, and as the septum deviated again, the airway on one side of my nose was almost blocked. They said that while doing the complete removal surgery, they also corrected the tilted septum.
Don't just get functional rhinoplasty because you can do it cheaply with medical insurance reimbursement; look into it carefully before doing it.. ㅠ It seems like there are quite a lot of people like me who get functional rhinoplasty and then have it removedㅜㅜ When looking around this community, there were also many people saying they had empty nose syndrome or that their breathing didn't improve even after removal, so I was really worriedㅠㅠ I'll have to keep watching to know for sure, but I'm truly relieved. I finally feel like I can breathe a little..!!!! I'm writing this thinking there might be someone similar to me. Of course, my nose has gotten lowerㅠ Right now, maybe because there is swelling, it looks a bit higher than my original nose. I hope my nose goes back to being soft again soonㅠㅠ As for the nose shape, I'll wait more time, and after the swelling goes down somewhat, I'll leave another post.
