First, my situation is that 8 years ago I had an incisional double-eyelid surgery, ptosis correction, and epicanthoplasty, then only my right eye had the line bend, so I got a revision correction, but only the right side ended up becoming a sausage eye. I lived with uneven eyes for 8 years, and only now did I get a bit of time and financial room, so I visited a total of 12 clinics to try revision surgery. I’ll write the review that made me want to cry the most first,,, - ㄴㅅㅎ Plastic Surgery Director ㄱㄷㅎ No consultation fee Consultation order: consultant > director > consultant The consultant only asked what I wanted to improve After the consultant left, I waited in the consultation room for almost 30 minutes Director Incision / skin excision on both sides / ptosis correction / fat repositioning After looking at my eyes, he said the size of my two eyes is different, and with my eye shape, the in-out line I want is not possible He said my eyes already look lifted now, and if I did that, they would look even more lifted, so it would be right to keep the current line of my left eye At other hospitals, I had often been diagnosed that skin excision, in other words lowering the line, should only be done on the right eye, which is the sausage eye, but here he told me to do both sides. From here I was like, huh? Both sides??? I had been thinking skin excision carries more risk because, unlike a two-line technique, once skin is excised, it can’t be reversed So I asked the director, 'If skin is excised, it can’t be restored, so isn’t the risk a bit bigger than the two-line technique?' and he answered, No. lol. I was flustered by the answer and was like, Ah, ah,, but he gave absolutely no additional explanation as to why he answered no. When I instead asked again, 'Is the two-line technique riskier because of scarring..?' he just said, That’s right. lol. End of answer. At that point I didn’t feel any more need for the consultation and ended the conversation,,, It was my 11th clinic visit, so I was exhausted, and I still hadn’t decided what surgery or what hospital was right for me. Receiving that kind of consultation in that situation made me feel so upset,, All kinds of thoughts came up, like why did my eye have to become a sausage eye and make me go through all this trouble. At the end, the consultant talked about the estimated price, but I was mentally gone, so none of what she said entered my head,, anyway, that’s how the consultation ended. When a patient comes in, a doctor’s job is to examine where it hurts and diagnose it, but I also think that when a patient asks about something they’re worried about and feels anxious, if the doctor has confidence in their own judgment, explaining why the patient doesn’t need to worry and reassuring them is also part of the doctor’s job. But there was none of that reasoning or explanation at all, and I strongly felt like I was being treated as just a customer rather than a patient, which I think made me feel even more upset. Didn’t plastic surgeons also start out as doctors with the intention of treating and saving patients at first? Maybe not all of them, but if that mindset has changed, it’s unfortunate. While going around for consultations, I felt there were a few hospitals that gave off the feeling of, since they have more than enough customers, why bother if it’s not me? If there are people visiting clinics for revision surgery in the same situation as me, seriously, hang in there,,! I think you need to have a certain amount of your own perspective so you don’t get hurt by words like that. Every doctor has different opinions! I’m planning to decide within this week and have surgery in February! I’ll post a surgery review later too!
