First surgery - factory-style clinic - doctor once famous for the semi-curved line, now has opened a private clinic - ear cartilage, septum - probably around 4 million won? I was so ignorant about cosmetic surgery that I could hardly imagine there were people as clueless as I was back then, so I went to a factory-style clinic through an acquaintance and had surgery there. Looking back now, that was the most regrettable decision of my life.. During the consultation, he said he did many revision cases and noses with complications, and that my nose was an easy case. He showed tremendous confidence throughout the consultation. His attitude raised my trust, but if it were today, I would definitely have avoided him lol. I asked him to make it as natural as possible, but he was the type who was good at a flashy semi-curved line, and the result came out very flashy in that semi-curved line he was good at. One month after surgery, I had a silicone-related complication and the bridge between my eyebrows and nose swelled up. I got antibiotics, had fluid? blood? drained from the bridge, tried all kinds of things, but in the end we decided to open it up and remove the silicone. 2. Revision surgery (one month later) - same clinic - same director - silicone removal surgery - cost X At one month, the inflammatory reaction was so severe that no matter what was done, they eventually opened the nose and removed the silicone. After removing the bridge silicone, they pressed hard with a splint for two weeks, and my nose became saddle-nose. 3. Second revision (6 months after the revision) - same clinic - same director - ear cartilage, donated dermis used - cost X He wasn’t a doctor who ignored complications, and the clinic didn’t refund me, but I wasn’t charged any additional cost for the second revision either. I should have only done the first surgery and removal at this clinic, then gone to another clinic, but why did I go back to the same place again.. I can’t even understand myself. At that time, I think I trusted too much what that doctor said about having done many noses with complications. The bridge was done with donated dermis and the nasal tip with ear cartilage, but the donated dermis raised the starting point of the bridge too much, and the area with the bridge and tip implant (ear cartilage) was not smooth, so anyone could tell there was an implant in the nasal tip (see photo). As time passed, the nasal tip became more pinched, and the dermis on the bridge was absorbed even more, so it just became a completely ruined nose. - scouting for the third revision Living with a ruined nose for years, I gave up on the idea of surgery again because I couldn’t bring myself to do it, but then I started looking into it properly and began searching in this community for clinics famous for revision surgery and for extreme-case noses. I looked mainly at private clinics, experience, reviews from this community, before-and-after photos, and aftercare, and while looking for clinics that could identify my nose’s problems and solve them no matter how much money it cost, I made consultation appointments with A and B, the clinics that looked the most expensive. - Clinic A Clinic A refused surgery the moment they saw my nose.. They even showed me a book and said that because my nostrils were small but my alar base was wide, I would need alar reduction like the one in the book, but since the book showed it, they apologized and refused to do a surgery that carried scar risk. The clinic I had been most looking forward to rejected me, so I was mentally wrecked and called Clinic B every day to ask if there were any canceled consultation slots. Normally I would have had to wait more than half a year, but a cancellation opened up and I went for the consultation after waiting a month. - Clinic B After taking photos and explaining, they pointed out the parts I was most stressed about first (high starting point of the bridge, severe pinching at the tip, thick alar base, alar wings, etc.). I wanted to use rib cartilage because I thought this would be my last surgery, but they said it wasn’t a surgery that would create a dramatic change, so ear cartilage would be enough, and they refused. I also wanted osteotomy of the bridge, but they refused again, saying that if a small nose gets osteotomy on the bridge, the nose can collapse. The alar reduction done by the director at B was the same type of alar reduction I had been told I needed at A, so after looking at the review photos they showed me, I decided to have surgery at B. 4. Third revision - private clinic - bilateral ear cartilage used - 7.2 million won On the day of surgery, I arrived 30 minutes early, changed clothes, gargled, washed my face, consulted with the coordinator, filled out consent forms, heard the precautions, took photos again with the doctor, and after a final consultation while looking at the photos, we finalized the design. In the operating room they weighed me, a nurse tied up my hair and inserted an IV into my arm. Before sedation, the doctor asked if I was scared, and after I was sedated in a calmer atmosphere, I woke up and the surgery was over. After the surgery, the doctor came to the recovery room and said it went well, then I went home. I had no cotton stuffed in my nose, so I slept breathing through my nose from the first day, and my ears were wrapped tightly, so until day 3 my ears felt the most uncomfortable. On day 3 they removed the tape from my ears and columella, on day 5 they removed the stitches from the alar wings and columella, and on day 7 they removed the splint, alar stitches, internal nasal stitches, and ear stitches. It’s now the 2-week mark and I’m still really satisfied. It doesn’t feel like a waste of money at all. Once the swelling goes down it’ll probably change more, and I don’t know how it will look as time passes, but right now I can see that all the parts that stressed me out have been improved, so I’m happy.
