Right after the CSAT, I suddenly got my parents’ support and looked up plastic surgery clinics in Gangnam by myself, then ended up getting double eyelid surgery. A freshly adult kid researching everything alone, getting surgery alone, and coming back on their own... looking back now, it was kind of bold, but there weren’t any problems. I did have concerns about my appearance in general, but I actually didn’t have the strong desire to get double eyelid surgery specifically, so there was a bit of impulse behind it. The conclusion is that I’m satisfied with it now~
I don’t even remember how I found the place back then, but after getting consultations at two or three clinics, I chose a private clinic that offered the most options at a low price. It wasn’t a particularly large or famous hospital, but I liked the before-and-after photos, so I trusted it and went ahead... (I’m honestly curious how I even found that clinic) I had a rather pronounced Mongolian fold that came down low, which made my eyes look sharp, so I wanted to correct that too. I went in thinking about epicanthoplasty and partial-incision double eyelid surgery with an in-out line, but one clinic even said I might not need epicanthoplasty. In the end, though, I chose the clinic that said they would slightly lift and correct the fold, do the epicanthoplasty? and remove eyelid fat, and perform double eyelid surgery with a partial-incision method... (It was the cheapest compared to the package.)
I don’t remember the exact cost, but it was so cheap that I’ve hardly seen anything cheaper since, so I’m even more satisfied. It must have been the discounted student price, so if you’re going to get cosmetic surgery, the end of the CSAT really does seem like the best time. You also get a fresh start at college... hehe. I wasn’t especially diligent about surgery, so maybe I had it in January? Because of that, my double eyelids were a bit obvious during the early part of freshman year....
The line is a little thick, so if I don’t wear eyeliner my eyes look a bit swollen, and if you look closely there’s a slight asymmetry on both sides (one double eyelid is a little more sagged with fat and the line is also slightly different), but... I’m not really in a position to recommend the clinic.... There are probably better clinics out there haha
Writing it like this makes it sound like a failure in some way, but I’m satisfied with it as in, it’s better than not having done it. Since our natural faces are asymmetrical, I figured the double eyelids couldn’t come out exactly the same either. Right now the in-out line I originally wanted has been formed and the Mongolian fold has also been corrected reasonably well, so the goal was achieved. I didn’t have much expectation from the start, and after getting double eyelid surgery I stopped paying attention to eye surgery, so maybe that’s why I haven’t seen any better examples. haha Still, these days people around me also consider it a case that turned out naturally well. An in-out line itself doesn’t really give a natural double-eyelid feel, so they can tell I had surgery, but they say it suits my face well. My eyes aren’t even that big, but maybe because I do makeup too, since the surgery people also say my eyes look bigger now...
Even these days, when I see things like non-incisional secondary canthoplasty, I’m tempted, but I’m going to stop eye surgery at double eyelid surgery... human desire never ends...
