I had the surgery in 2014. I had a depressed scar about 1 cm in diameter on my cheek, and I had been receiving laser treatments at several dermatology clinics. With the pigmentation and the size being what it was, the scar did not disappear at the time. So I went to a plastic surgery clinic that specifically treats scars. After a consultation, they recommended surgery to excise the pigmented, depressed scar area, pull the skin together, and suture it. They said that because the scar was also fairly large, it could not be done in one session, and that it would disappear if I did it up to a second time 6 months later. Since laser had not worked for me, I decided to have surgery. The surgery was done under local anesthesia, and there was no pain. Six months passed after one surgery, and I was satisfied with the result. The pigmented area disappeared, and the depressed scar was reduced by half. It would disappear if I had surgery one more time, but even now it is not very noticeable, so I have not had the second surgery.
