Breast Surgery Review (+Long Post Warning, Photos Included)

Everyone, I’ll share my breast surgery review To start with what everyone is probably curious about: ★ Mentor Xtra / 295 cc / breast pocket 12 / inframammary fold incision ★ As I mentioned in my previous post, first, to describe my breast type: I have an average body type, and my breasts were originally on the larger side, going back and forth between B and C? When I was pregnant and breastfeeding, they even went up to D, but after going through two births and breastfeeding twice, all of that breast volume disappeared, and my upper breasts were just gone, soft and deflated like balloons,,,, They became small and saggy! My bare body looked so bad, and even when I wore a padded bra, my breasts floated away from it. Maybe because my breasts suddenly got smaller, when I wore a bra, the cleavage on the right side formed in two lines, so even though I hadn’t had surgery, I had a natural double fold ㅋㅋ쿠ㅜㅜㅜㅜ I only managed to go to two consultations in person, but I did a lot of research online! Like everyone else, I looked up everything from surgical methods to implant selection criteria, surgery reviews, how to wear compression garments, and so on. I kept watching until the doctors on YouTube started to feel familiar. My criteria for choosing a hospital were: a large hospital! A trustworthy and skilled director! A reasonable price! Postoperative care! How they handle and guarantee things if side effects occur! Whether CCTV footage can be disclosed! *** At the first hospital I consulted with, they recommended doing a breast lift together because my breasts were sagging. A breast lift basically involves cutting in a circle around the areola and suturing it again, right? If you do a lift and breast augmentation, the breast pocket becomes smaller, so there’s also the disadvantage that you can’t put in a large implant. In my case, size wasn’t important, but I already have a small worm-like hypertrophic scar from my C-section scar, and no matter how well I take care of it, I had anxiety that another scar would form, so I really didn’t want a lift. But they said that if I didn’t do a lift, because my breasts were sagging and the length from the inframammary fold to the nipple was short, there could be a possibility of a double fold, and that it would be good to do a lift later even after augmentation. The part they explained as a possible side effect felt, to me, like something inevitableㅜㅜ Still, the price was affordable and the consultant was kind, so I had even signed a contract, but when I thought about it again carefully, it was a major surgery, and even if it was inexpensive, it was still a large amount of money. I wondered whether I should go onto the operating table with anxiety, so I decided to visit another hospital, and that place was this hospital! Director Song Jae-yong is already very famous for breast surgery, so I was thinking that if even he said the same thing as the previous hospital, then I’d accept that it couldn’t be helped. But when I told him these were the parts I was worried about and that this was what I had been told at the previous consultation, Director Song, who may perhaps seem blunt, said that if we did a lift, we could make a more textbook-like, prettier breast shape, but for the double fold, if we use an inframammary fold incision during surgery and properly disconnect the original lower-crease tethering, I didn’t need to worry. When I asked whether I would need a lift later, he said that if we restore the sunken upper-breast volume with the dual-plane method, the nipple would naturally come up, and unless I got older and sagged more, a lift should be okay to skip. So I immediately said I would do it, told him I trusted his aesthetic sense for the shape and size and asked him to make it as natural as possible, signed the contract, did the preoperative tests, and came home. *** The reason I chose Mentor Xtra was that I thought the feel of my own breasts was most similar to Mentor. Originally, I was thinking a lot about Mentor Smooth because of the price, but when I touched them, I thought Mentor Xtra would be firmer because it had a higher fill ratio. But Mentor Smooth and Mentor Xtra felt very similar, and when I touched them covered, Mentor Xtra actually felt softer? They say Smooth also rarely causes rippling or capsular contracture depending on the person, but you never know, and because I needed to fill my upper-breast volume, I ultimately decided on Mentor Xtra even if it cost more. *** They told me the diameter that would naturally fit the implant from the central rib cage to the ribs was 12 cm, and I had surgery with a moderate, flatter 295 cc implant! My right breast was a little larger, so when matching both sides, I wondered whether they would use a smaller 275 or 315, but fortunately, I guess they weren’t that different, because they used 295 on both sides. As I said earlier, I didn’t want breasts that looked too obviously operated on when pushed together or when lying down, and since I don’t have a large frame, I didn’t want breasts that were too big, so I’m satisfied. They said that once the swelling goes down and they settle, they’ll become a bit smaller, so right now, at 2 weeks postop, my breasts are perfectly full, and I’m really looking forward to one or two months from now!!! For the incision, I chose the inframammary incision because of recovery and recreating the lower breast, and I’m taking diligent care so the scar doesn’t worsen. *** My surgery was scheduled for 1 o’clock, but I arrived at 1:05. I took photos, did this and that, got instructions and side-effect explanations, the director came and did the design, and the exact time I went into surgery was 2 o’clock. Because I had to leave quickly before 5 because of my kids, I was worried about recovery time, but maybe because I kept thinking about that, I wasn’t nervous and woke up from anesthesia really quickly. It helps you wake from anesthesia, so everyone, when you get to the recovery room, breathe hard! They attached pain medication to my wrist like an IV and I was discharged like that? When I took the subway home, it really almost didn’t hurt. *** As for pain, maybe because I’ve had a C-section, it hurt in a way where I could clearly feel that the incision site had been cut with a knife, and there was pain from the breasts feeling tight and swollen. They say days 2-3 are the most swollen and painful, and if any of you have breastfed before, when there is pain, it is exactly the pain of breast engorgement when your breasts are completely full of milk. When it really tingled, I wanted to squeeze my breasts... ㅋㅋ Because I felt like it would get better if I didㅋㅋㅋㅋ Honestly, I wasn’t someone who had severe breast engorgement, and my breasts would get better right away if I expressed milk, so maybe because of that, I just think, “this too shall pass,” and then it gets okay again. For me, it just seems like the incision site itself always hurts the most. Even that is tolerable! The painkiller was a two-day dose, but because childcare made it inconvenient and my baby kept trying to pull at it, I took one Tylenol preventively before removing it, then pulled out the painkiller on the evening of surgery day, and I was really completely fine. I’m also the type who tolerates pain well, and with breast surgery, it’s no exaggeration to say the pain is determined by the director’s skill during dissection, and Director Song’s skill really seems amazing... ++ In week 1, considering I had surgery, the pain was honestly almost nonexistent, and now in week 2, I sometimes have brief, unpleasant, tingling pain and occasionally a dull aching feeling. I wonder if it’s because I’m moving around too much, and it also seems like my nerves are recovering, so for now I think I need to keep managing it steadily and watch it for a month! *** I don’t know if it’s just me or because it was an inframammary incision, but my recovery speed is so good that from the first day, I had no trouble lifting my arms upward. They said the implants could move upward, so I should avoid raising my arms as much as possible, so I’m trying not to, but since there really aren’t restrictions when using my arms, I’m putting on and taking off clothes freely and holding my babies as usual. If I’m worried about anything, I’m very worried that because I’m moving too much, the capsule won’t form nicely,,,,, But I’m raising kids, so I can’t avoid itㅜㅜ Still, I’m being as careful as possible. I also don’t have any side effects from the capsular contracture medication, so I’m taking it well too (I wanted appetite loss thoughㅎㅎ) *** I talked a lot about the good points, so to mention the downside, honestly, the waiting time tends to be long. All plastic surgery clinics require tremendous waiting times, and among them, if you visit ㄱㄹ for breast surgery, since Director Song is the only director in charge of breast surgery, if things get delayed little by little because of surgery or consultations, the dilemma of having to wait a long time happens... If I had a lot of time, maybe it would have been different, but it was a two-hour round trip, and I always had the constraint that I had to return home before 4 because of my children’s dismissal from school, so it felt even bigger. From the people who guide you to the consultation managers and aftercare staff, not a single person was unkind, but I kept apologetically saying, “How long do I have to wait? Please hurry if possible,” and I could feel that they were trying to do things as quickly as possible. Fortunately, unless it was a day when I had to see the director for a progress check, maybe they noted me down as a difficult patient, because they saw me without a long waitㅜㅜㅜ Everyone who doesn’t have much time, keep that in mind too, and don’t just wait endlessly. Try telling them first! *** And I don’t know if this was because I was discharged in such a hurry on the day of surgery or if it’s usually like this, but after surgery, I didn’t have a separate chance to talk with Director Song. I was curious how many cc ultimately went in to match left-right symmetry and whether the surgery had gone well, but I found out at the information desk when I received the implant warranty card that the same 295 had gone in. My assigned consultant also suddenly had to take the day off because of the flu, so I think it was more because of that. Other people probably get a surgery report? and then get discharged, maybe? The reason I wasn’t worried was that when I changed clothes, anyone could tell my breast surgery had gone well, so I went straight home, but everyone, wait and check everything you can before being discharged~! *** Also, the biggest advantage is that they don’t use compression garments. Even when I came out of the operating room, I only had an upper band on. I’m sensitive to smells, and there was a rubber smell? from the upper band, so the smell went straight up my nose, and mixed with the slight anesthesia feeling, it made me nauseous and it was a bit hard.... So I ordered an upper band from Coupang and am using it, but the upper band from the hospital is more supportive, so I recommend ordering a spare and using the hospital one after washing it! ++ I’m already satisfied with my new breasts even now, but at the 1-week progress check, Director Song said that when the upper bulging goes away, my nipples will come up more than they are now? It’s not severe, but I have pectus carinatum, and except when breastfeeding, I never had upper-breast volume, so I was satisfied with the upper bulging tooㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ But when viewed from the side, the upper part is definitely bulging, and the BP point is looking downward. *** I hope everyone can have a successful surgery with no regrets and a beautiful result!!! Thank you for reading this long post
