<Before surgery, immediately after>I finally got abdominal liposuction at that “Apgujeong T-Line” place that always comes up when you search liposuction. It has now been almost 2 months, but for now I’ll only write about the most dramatic early part..
[Before surgery] 1. Deciding on surgery Actually, I had once asked for a quote for surgery about 10 years ago. Back then I was 20 and couldn’t do it because I had no money.... I just somehow lived on, 10 years passed, and in fall 2024... along with the back-flank fat I had always hated looking at... when I saw that the new pants I bought were tight because of my belly, I decided on liposuction.. lololol Actually, I had an overseas trip planned for late December, so I was going to have surgery after the trip, but as I was doing consultations, it turned out the trip would be 2 weeks after surgery.. so it seemed like I could go...? (The consultant also said it would be okay to go.) They said the abdomen is the least painful area, so I decided to just go ahead with it. *Oh, additionally, apart from the abdomen and love handles, the folded fat on the back-flank(?) area is not included in the “abdomen” area. So I paid an extra fee and proceeded. It was the part that stressed me out the most, so I’m very satisfied. - 2. Choosing the hospital There were 3 reasons I chose this hospital. 1) Because I have diabetes, they said surgery might not be possible if things went wrong, so I absolutely had to manage my blood sugar and get it as close to normal as possible. (No matter how much I searched, there were no reviews from people with diabetes who had liposuction, so I just searched every day) Actually, I looked into other places too, but I decided on this hospital because an anesthesiologist is on-site..! 2) I have a large frame. Really large. I’m basically a general. Honestly, I didn’t even expect to “become dramatically prettier” in the first place; I just wanted to be able to button my pants. But during the consultation, they showed me cases with similar skeletal structure and skin condition and explained, “It will proceed and recover like this,” you know? They didn’t just show me dramatically slimmed-down photos (of course, to me they all looked dramatically slimmed down, but especially the legendary ones). I liked that they showed me cases similar to mine. 3) Worry about side effects..! Scars were not something I was considering...... I’m prone to scarring, so even if I keep an Aqua Band on a little long, my skin turns dark in the shape of the band. What I was worried about was skin sagging... They explained the principle of how the skin re-adheres upward for this too, and also told me the solution. Of course, they said it won’t become firm and tight like losing weight through standard dieting...... (Obviously....) They told me the effect becomes dramatic if you strictly diet alongside it from the early period after surgery...! (Currently after surgery, I have no sagging! But it doesn’t feel super firm and elastic either.) Oh, and for this part, please really consider your own skin condition before doing it... Thick skin seems firm, so I think there would be less concern about sagging, but unfortunately my skin is not like that.. It was thin skin that felt soft and tender to the touch.. [Day of surgery (Day 1)] Because I have diabetes, we scheduled the surgery in the morning to rule out all kinds of unexpected issues. I followed all the preoperative precautions the hospital told me about (fasting, including water, etc.), took preoperative photos, had blood tests, and then went to the operating table..! I had to strip completely, and the operating room was cold... and I was the only one standing there naked.... I had never had surgery in my life, so I thought I would at least be wearing disposable underwear, but they told me to take even my underwear off (they have to disinfect), so I shrank back a bit. But the moment I stood blankly in the exact center of the operating room, naked, while the nurses applied red antiseptic all over my body, I somehow felt like meat being marinated. All the nervousness and everything disappeared; I just trudged over, lay face down, and waited. The anesthesia started with the back of the hand where the IV was inserted becoming extremely cold, and I was like, “Huh????? What is this????????” And then when I opened my eyes, I was in the warm recovery room... - Because I stupidly forgot to buy a compression garment.... they wrapped me with compression bandages.. Apparently they removed 7000 cc; does that even make sense..? They told me to lie down more, but my mind was so clear that I decided to just go home. I had the surgery without even my family knowing, so I thought, “How am I going to hide it if it hurts,” but.. well, right after surgery, it didn’t hurt much. But at night... it was really uncomfortable.. lolololol Because I had compression bandages instead of a compression garment, every time I moved, the bunched-up compression bandage tightened around my waist like it was going to cut it in half... lololol Make sure to buy and bring a compression garment!!!!!!!!! And because they removed a lot of fat from my back and waist, when I lay on the bed, there was a gap under my waist, which was uncomfortable (a happy discomfort hehe). The degree of pain was about like my whole back was bruised..? When lying down or pressing it, it throbbed like pressing on a bruise.
[Day 1] I had surgery on Thursday, so I went to work on Friday. They said going to work right away was possible.. and it really was... Being active while my eyes were open didn’t hurt much, and when I lay down to sleep it was a bit uncomfortable (my back felt a bit sore from pressure). [Day 2] Something really fascinating.... I knew from reviews that bruising moves downward.. but my private area turned purple lolololololololololol Rather, there was no bruising at all on the abdominal area that was operated on, and only my private area turned purple.
[Day 3] I went out because I had plans, and my back felt really hot. It turned out I hadn’t seen the precaution saying, “For 3 days after surgery, apply cold compresses over the compression garment,” so I did nothing.. Please make sure to read the postoperative precautions carefully... (After doing cold compresses for about 2 days, it got better.) And because of the solution inserted during surgery + swelling + bruising, my pubic/genital area became really puffed up!!! lol
--------------------------------- Oh, and to wrap up...... Before surgery, I worried about whether I would need to clear my schedule for several days because of postoperative pain, - Went to work the next day - Had plans the day after that, so I was at Gangnam Station all day - Went to standing at a concert the day after that Daily life is totally possible immediately after surgery, so don’t worry!
