I’m planning to get rhinoplasty, so I went around to about four places for consultations and eventually I’m thinking of doing it at the place an acquaintance went to. They said they would use three materials: donated rib cartilage, septal cartilage, and ear cartilage. Is this right? Other places only do donated rib if it’s donated rib, or autologous rib if it’s autologous rib, like that, but is it only this place that does it this way? During the consultation, they didn’t do a CT scan, and they said they won’t do one on the day of surgery either.. It’s my first surgery, so I’m worried
메이넬 Huh.. If it were me, I’d go consult somewhere else. If they haven’t even taken a CT, what’s the reason they’re saying to use rib cartilage??? When I went around for consultations, places like Louvre and JT all looked at the CT and clearly explained that rib cartilage was needed because there wasn’t enough septal cartilage.. There’s no need to feel burdened and use rib cartilage, septal cartilage, and ear cartilage all together
짱배곺 Don’t they usually not take CTs for a first surgery? For revision rhinoplasty, they do it to check the materials used in the first surgery, but it’s not necessarily needed, and depending on the nose, the materials seem to vary a lot from person to person

haruholic For CT, there are many places that take it and many places that don’t, depending on the person/place. Looking at the nose shape, for a first surgery they can roughly estimate the amount of material(?), so for a small nose it’s just rib cartilage from the start. Wherever I went, they also said they’d use rib cartilage, septal cartilage, and ear cartilage, then at the end said they wouldn’t use ear, so they used septal cartilage + rib cartilage (my nose is small and my ears are even smaller.. After a 1-second scan, I was firmly told, ‘We won’t use your ear’;;)
