I had lens implantation surgery last September, right before the Chuseok holiday. At first, I went in for a SMILE LASIK consultation, but my corneas were thin, so the only option was lens implantation. My vision was very poor to begin with, and they said I had a bit of amblyopia? in my right eye, so my vision would not improve dramatically even after lens implantation. The expected vision was 0.8 to 1.0, and I am getting up to 1.0, but as expected, my right eye still does not see well. (I thought everyone got at least 1.5 after vision correction..) My pupils are also on the larger side, so they said glare, ring phenomena, and so on were bound to happen. But the ring phenomena happen more often than I expected, and it is hard to adapt. It is like when light shines into a camera and causes flare. My eyes also flash in front and I cannot see, so if light hits my eyes the wrong way, it hurts and I cannot see ahead. (This is worse compared with when I wore glasses.) When driving at night, if I accidentally look at headlights or something like that, it feels dizzying. Still, the biggest advantage is being able to live without glasses, but with lens implantation, you always have to be careful about impact to the eyes.
