Review of orthognathic surgery

This is a 1-month follow-up review after orthognathic surgery, cheekbone surgery, square jaw surgery, and chin surgery. The surgery was done on January 17, 2025, and these are photos from day 40! I actually decided to get orthognathic surgery when I was young. I wore a Frankel appliance as a child, but it didn’t really work, so I kept feeling uncomfortable with my face, and my bite never lined up properly, which always made me lack confidence. From then on I decided I absolutely had to get orthognathic surgery, and eventually, once I became an adult, I made the decision to go through with it. I visited both a university hospital and a private clinic, but honestly, both felt like they lacked some trustworthiness. But when I went to Yangyundo Hospital for a consultation, it felt really reliable. The doctor was kind, and the consultation was very detailed, so I decided to have the surgery there. The surgery was scary, but once it was over, the recovery was better than I expected. For about a week after surgery, I couldn’t open my mouth well and the swelling was severe, but after that it gradually improved. Now it’s been one month, and the swelling has gone down a lot and my facial contours have definitely changed. At first I was surprised by how big the change was, but as time passes it keeps becoming more natural and my satisfaction keeps increasing. I’m not fully recovered yet, but I feel much more comfortable than before and have gained confidence. Overall, I’m very satisfied with the changes after surgery. I’m still recovering in some areas, so I can’t say it’s perfect yet, but compared with the discomfort before surgery, it feels like a huge change. I really think it was a great choice to have the surgery at Yangyundo Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.
