It’s already been 2 weeks since my surgery! I’m not the type to go around to tons of clinics in person, so I did a lot of online research, narrowed it down to exactly two places, and had consultations. Even after the consultations, I couldn’t decide right away, so I searched through a lot of reviews on Gangnam Unni and other plastic surgery reviews before deciding on this place!
The biggest reason I decided was that, a few years ago, I was often told that the bone was right behind the outer corner of my eyes, so there was no space and they couldn’t widen them. Both places I consulted this time said it was possible, but when I actually looked at reviews, this was the only place that opened them as much as I wanted, and there were also posts saying theirs had reattached,, Since I’ve had multiple revision surgeries, I chose very carefully, thinking this would really be the last time.
I always hated that I had narrow, shell-like eyes and upturned outer corners, and I wanted round eyes like a half-moon!
The director drew it out on paper and showed me. Other places use periosteal fixation, so it loosens over time, but here, with the director’s own patented technique, they proceed with a skin-incision method, so they can widen it as much as desired and it won’t reattach. Honestly, at that moment I did think, “How can anything not reattach? It’s probably all just marketing,” but I heard through an acquaintance of an acquaintance that they had surgery here and were extremely satisfied, so that made up my mind.
The first week was seriously depressing. Since I was going under sedation anyway, I also got Rejuran treatment, so my whole face had bruising + needle marks, and the bruising under my eyes had almost come down to my nose. The conjunctival edema covered half my eye, and if I accidentally touched it, it hurt so much. I’m normally really not the type to swell, and I took pumpkin juice, medication, ointment, and swelling medicine, doing everything I could to reduce the swelling, but when I woke up in the morning my eyes would be stuck together again and wouldn’t separateㅠ This kept repeating, then after the first stitch removal, the bruising started to go down a lot, and after the second removal, the conjunctival edema started disappearing completely! I took exactly 10 days of annual leave from work and went back, but if I had gone to work then, I think I would’ve already ended up depressed..
As soon as I went back to work, my coworkers complimented me a lot, saying my eyes turned out so well, and I’ve been really happy these days. Except for the scars and rednessㅠ
During the consultation, they showed me things like progress photos of a staff member’s procedure, and I had heard that because they widen it as much as possible, the scars last a long time, but wow, I didn’t know it would bother me this much. I had all sorts of thoughts, like what if they don’t disappear, should I get laser treatment, but when I went to get my stitches removed, the consultation manager said time is the medicine, that my progress is already really good and it will become much more natural, so we should wait longer. So I’m trying not to worry about the scars as much as possible. Also, it still hurts if I touch the back side of my eyesㅠ And I don’t know if it’s just me, but my vision felt slightly blurry? It’s okay now, but I think it was like that for about 3-5 days after the stitches were removed! They said dry eye could occur, but I don’t really feel anything like thatㅎ
These days, every day when I go to work, I hear that the swelling is going down more day by day, that it looks really natural today too, that my eyes have gotten much bigger, that my impression looks much gentler, and that I really did well getting it done. Hearing those things every day makes me look forward more and more to seeing myself fully recoveredㅎㅎ
If you’re considering lower lateral canthoplasty, I definitely recommend it.
