I had nose surgery two years ago.
I have rhinitis, and my nose had a really, really severe hump, so it was a huge source of stress for me my whole life. People would say I looked like an ugly celebrity because of my nose, and I was so irritated.
I couldn’t hold back my frustration and seriously started thinking, should I just get cosmetic surgery? That impulsive booking was the beginning.
I originally planned to get it done at a plastic surgery clinic.
The first place I went to said they only shave the bone, so function stays the same, but if the bone grows back and the hump recurs, they don’t provide A/S. I was terrified at that point.
(Back then I thought if I just went to a plastic surgery clinic, that would be enough, so I went to a neighborhood plastic surgery hospital, lol.)
So I searched online.
Then I found a detailed post, and it said plastic surgery clinics are just places that improve appearance, so only shaving the bone is the correct approach.
But an ENT clinic is for function only, so they mess up the function.
Oh, I see;; I was wondering where to go, and then I saw it was called “Samsung” (I’m a huge Samsung fan), so I thought, oh, did Samsung open an ENT clinic too?
Then I asked about the price.
They said 4 million won;
ㅋㅋㅋ crazy.. plastic surgery clinics were 1 to 1.3 million won...
I asked if they had mistyped 1.4 million when they said 4 million (I asked through an online message), but they really meant 4 million. And they said medication and things like that would be extra;
Why is it so expensive? Because it’s Samsung?
So I went to check it out, and it’s right in front of my house, just a slightly big neighborhood ENT clinic;;

I was dumbfounded, but I went in anyway. The director was handsome, a good-looking guy.
He had this strong, experienced expert vibe, which was no joke
(I work in startup consulting, so maybe it’s occupational habit + my eye for detail.)
So I thought, as expected, Samsung? lol
But he said if you straighten the nose, the hump goes away;
ㅋㅋㅋ
He said he doesn’t shave the bone, he straightens the nose.
Well, in some cases they do shave the upper nasal bone,
but for me, he said he just needed to straighten the nasal passage;
I wasn’t really convinced, so I kept asking awkward questions, partly to see if he was a fraud.
What if it fails?
What if it doesn’t come out straight?
You’re saying you’ll raise the tip? Why? I’m only getting the hump fixed..
I deliberately kept prodding him, but he seemed very experienced.
(If someone uses roundabout excuses or says nonsense and pushes ahead anyway, instead of answering directly, there’s a high chance they’re a fraud.)
I decided he was the real deal, and later when I asked why the price was so high,
(the thing is, plastic surgery clinics just get annoyed when you ask about the price and tell you to ask the coordinator, or something like that, but this person just explained everything)
he said it was because it came with a lifetime guarantee and covered both function and aesthetics.
So I trusted my gut and went for it.
4 million...............
They put on some kind of cap, lifted my hair, took photos one after another;
what, maybe a cardiopulmonary test? various tests and so on,
then I coolly went under sedation anesthesia.
When I woke up, something was inserted in my nose;
I was fine until I took a taxi home.
The moment the anesthesia wore off, I was destroyed;
For about 4 days I seriously regretted it like crazy.
I thought, ah, I impulsively went through with this, I’m insane;
I truly regretted it so much. It hurt like hell.
I couldn’t breathe properly, had to breathe through my mouth,
I was losing my mind, seriously.
But after a week I was fine. Except for that thing blocking my nostrils.
But I couldn’t wear glasses for a month;
Since I had something weird attached to my nose, I couldn’t really go outside.
I went to a convenience store and the clerk kept glancing at me
ㅋㅋ "That guy got cosmetic surgery."
Anyway, for a month it was awful. Wearing that thing around, with sutures in there too,
and I had to rinse out my nostrils with a syringe or something like that,
ugh
I couldn’t even smoke;;
Anyway, I went to get the stitches removed.
I was bracing for it because I thought it would hurt like crazy, but I was worried for nothing.
And I’ve been living with it since then.
In my case, my hump was so severe that plastic surgery clinics said that even if it recurred, there was no A/S, but
it’s been 2 years and it still hasn’t recurred, lol.
When they straightened the nasal passage, the hump really disappeared, which was amazing. At the time it was my first time hearing that, so I was a bit surprised.
For reference, they said they placed dermis on the bridge of the nose? And raised the tip a bit.
The director said it had to be raised. The tip was free of charge, and whether I did it or not was my choice,
but he said it had to be done.
Anyway, the reason I’m writing a review now, 2 years later, is because
for reference, at Samsung Dream Plus ENT clinic,
even when they offered a 100,000 won gift certificate for written reviews,
I still said I wouldn’t write one and didn’t take it.
So why am I suddenly writing about something from 2 years ago now?
Because these days I’m looking for plastic surgery clinics for cosmetic work,
and honestly, they’re all like this. Not even experienced experts, just
a. poseur type b. salesman type c. quack type d. businessperson type. Only those kinds of guys.
Listen to my cosmetic surgery stories.
1. I got double eyelid surgery,
and it came undone. And not just undone;
it came undone while lifting upward,
so it’s not super obvious, but seriously; every time I look in the mirror, it bothers me.
That bastard is type b.
He has lots of customers. It’s just like, “This one’s a 800,000-won double eyelid surgery.”
2. I got filler, and
it caused wrinkles in my chin and failed.
And these days I’m comparison shopping for a chin implant, and yesterday I visited two plastic surgery clinics,
and at one place I got brainwashed by a broker and accidentally even made a surgery reservation
(for reference, I canceled the surgery.)
The other place was really, like ㅅㅅㄷㄹ, a super experienced expert type.
But the no-chin implant was over 10 million won;
No lie, if the no-chin implant had been 4 to 5 million won, I would have had surgery immediately.
Normally a no-chin implant costs 800,000 to 1.8 million won.
That’s how much this person had the same seasoned skill and expertise as the director who did my nose,
so the moment I saw him I thought to myself, “Ah! This is the one.” - For reference, before meeting this person,
I checked his personal blog and things like that really carefully.
He wasn’t the salesman type, and if he were a salesman, he couldn’t have run a blog like that.
But the thing about people like this is, I don’t know if they can’t train the female staff at the counter, but they have zero manners;
same here. The female counter staff had terrible manners, damn..
I was really disappointed.
If it were around 4 to 5 million, I would have just paid in full on the spot,
but they quoted almost 20 million won.. (I mean, what kind of implant is thatㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ)
So I gave up. I was really disappointed.
Anyway, back then
I wanted to find a real expert, someone truly experienced, a genuine expert.
I’ve looked around a lot at plastic surgery clinics, but I haven’t found one.
Seriously,
I still need to redo my eyes,
I need the no-chin fixed too,
and I need my forehead done as well,
but I really don’t know where to go. Plastic surgery clinics are all full of brokers,
all salesmen,
people with business minds, not expertise or a research mindset.
Not doctors, just businessmen.
I really want to find a true expert. If I find that person, I really
have the confidence to spend 20 million won or whatever it takes.
Without hesitation, I’d just go, “Should I do it here?” and visit that director for a consultation.
Isn’t there somewhere like that?
Honestly, if ㅅㅅㄷㄹ here had been a plastic surgery clinic instead of an ENT clinic,
I would have gone there and booked it immediately.
If I keep comparison shopping, I’ll eventually find a place like that, right..?
Ah, seriously, that place close to 20 million won was such a shame.
It was expert-level, but that made it insanely expensive;
it feels like it’s only for the super rich;
for reference, they wanted a 100,000 won consultation fee there, so be careful..
There was a reason they did that. They didn’t even refund the 100,000 won consultation fee ㅡㅡ
