Hello, I’ve only been coming in here sporadically, so my replies to messages were late.
A lot of people asked me questions about contouring reconstruction, but I’ve decided not to share which hospital is good or which hospital botched things, because I’m a bit concerned about doing that.
Most of the questions I received here were about costs, such as price, discounts, and CT fees, so I don’t think I can just write about those. Other than that, some people asked how many millimeters I had reconstructed, but I don’t know exactly either - sob. Anyway, I asked them to do the minimum. That was just my personal preference. I was fairly satisfied with my front view and didn’t want it to get bigger, but from the side, anyone could see it looked a bit broken, and I had a complex about that.
No matter which hospital you go to, I think it would be good to firmly state the amount of reconstruction you want before having surgery. I drew it out and brought it with me; I drew lines on my face and asked them to do this much. I felt that was how the director could understand exactly. If you just do it by eye, there always ends up being some margin of error. I work in design and drawing, and when you proceed based only on verbal descriptions, revisions become really difficult. You end up with situations like “the final final, truly final, completely completely final,” so I felt it shouldn’t be communicated only through words.
Swelling - The swelling goes down much faster than I expected. I can open my mouth almost fully now too. I was surprised that recovery from reconstruction was faster than shaving down bone. Before doing it, I thought I would have to rest for two months...
Whether I can feel anything when touching it - I’m not sure about that. But rather than thinking, “This isn’t mine,” since it hasn’t been long since surgery, I think I just touch it carefully. I’m not washing my face roughly either.
