Around winter break of my second year of high school in 2015, I had double eyelid surgery at ㄷㅌㅇ Plastic Surgery in Daegu. My eyes were slightly slanted and horizontally long, and for medial epicanthoplasty, lateral canthoplasty, and ptosis correction, the quote came out to 1.9 million won, but I negotiated the price and had the surgery for 1.55 million won (I think price negotiation is important). At the time I had eye surgery, there weren’t many friends around me who had done double eyelid surgery, so there was nowhere to get information, so my mom and I personally went around to about 4 plastic surgery clinics.
Daegu ㅇㅅ Plastic Surgery was famous for double eyelid surgery, but at the time the doctor told me not to get eye surgery. They said I was young, and when I got older, the fat around my eyes would naturally go down too, and told me to get surgery after becoming an adult, but I think I did it early because I really wanted cosmetic surgery. The other hospitals were unfriendly or somehow didn’t feel right, so I only had rough consultations and left.
Um, first of all, the criterion I used to choose the hospital was going with the side I trusted. Also, the coordinator was kind, and it mattered a lot that the doctor looked carefully at my complex and gave me a consultation in a way I could understand well.
But no matter how good the consultation is before surgery, I think you really can’t know the result after surgery. I am a case who had double eyelid surgery 4 years ago and then had revision surgery at the same hospital one year later. Even before the first surgery, the size of both eyes was a bit different, but after surgery, the left double eyelid seemed slightly undone and wasn’t properly fixed, so 1 year later I revisited that hospital and had the surgery again for free, paying only a separate 100,000 won anesthesia injection fee.
Should I have chosen a different hospital? Now, 4 years later, scar tissue remains above my eyelids. When I close my eyes, bumpy flesh that looks like thick scar tissue is visible, and sebum gets trapped in the double eyelid line. And maybe because time has passed, the double eyelid line is buried in the skin and looks like an inner double eyelid, and when I open my eyes wide, fine wrinkles appear.
Recently, when I visited ㅂㅇ Plastic Surgery, probably the most famous in Daegu, after I listed the concerns above, the consultant said, “ㄷㅌㅇ, they don’t really do eyes well there~” There really is a reason people get surgery at hospitals that many people go to. As someone who experienced it, I don’t recommend private clinics.. If one doctor does eyes, nose, breasts, liposuction, injection procedures, all sorts of things, of course the expertise would be lower. If you really search online, there are no reviews or anything, anyway, that’s how it is..
I think it’s better to pay a fair price and have it done properly when you get surgery once. These days there’s a lot of information and many reviews, so I hope you filter out things like side effects well and choose carefully.
