When you go for a facial contouring consultation, they almost always take a CT scan, but usually, when you consult with the director, most places only put up the frontal view and consult from that. They look only at the front and talk about the cheekbones, the jaw, the nerve line, and so on.
Even with just an X-ray, the bone contour can be sufficiently examined with the naked eye, so why do they take a CT scan?
Because it can be rotated 360 degrees. The consultation should not only look at the front view, but also the view looking down from the crown of the head, the 45-degree view, the view looking up from below, and so on, rotating the facial CT 360 degrees during the consultation.
Especially in the case of cheekbone surgery, this lets you clearly communicate what you want to the director for a result that is 100% satisfying.
But how many directors actually rotate the CT 360 degrees during consultation? They're already insanely busy... so you need to ask them to rotate it while you consult. That increases the chance of avoiding revision surgery.
If only I had known this earlier.... sob sob....
And one more thing: directors who are confident in surgery and know what kind of surgical plan is appropriate will definitely show you before-and-after photos using CT scans and post-op photos of people whose face shape matches yours.
If you ask to see before-and-afters of someone similar to you, and they say things like they need the patient's permission, or that the consultant will show you that, trust your instincts and skip them.
Seeing once is better than hearing a hundred times, so a director who won't do that..?
