Real rhinoplasty review
I had already had rhinoplasty 3 times before, but each time it kept failing. In the end, my nose completely collapsed because of side effects from donated costal cartilage, so I opened my nose for the 4th time. It was a major surgery of about 5 hours, so the director really worked so hard on itㅠㅠ I had surgery using costal cartilage + scalp fascia. I’m currently on day 3, and when they changed the splint this morning, I saw the line. The line came out well, and the bending and contracture were also corrected. The scar tissue that had been there was removed too. Since it’s only day 3 I don’t know yet, but in my current state I’m very satisfied.
The director at the hospital where I had surgery is an ENT specialist, so while he also looks at the cosmetic and aesthetic aspects, he gave a professional diagnosis using CT images and virtual plastic surgery images, and I liked that he focused more on the functional aspects.
Even if you have surgery, never use donated costal cartilage. Donated costal cartilage is taken from a cadaver, so side effects happen. After using donated costal cartilage, both the function and shape of my nose became distorted and ruined, and I developed contracture and bending, so this time I had revision surgery with autologous costal cartilage.
Harvesting autologous costal cartilage is very painful, but if you use donated costal cartilage for no reason and get side effects, then have revision surgery again and again... it only makes it harder for youㅠㅠ
<Surgical materials> Autologous costal cartilage + scalp fascia + silicone <Day of surgery> 1. Changed clothes in the inpatient room, and the first thing they did was trim my nose hairs. They cut them with scissors, but the scissors kept pinching the flesh inside my nose, so it stung. Had a taste test, voice test, and smell test, then used an ultrasound machine to check whether there were problems with the sinuses and thyroid. 2. Looked at the X-ray and CT images taken during the consultation with the director, heard about the surgery methods for rhinitis, nasal valve, and deviated septum, then proceeded with the cosmetic surgery consultation. 3. Wearing only a disposable bra on my upper body, I undressed my upper body and lay on the operating table. The operating room was freaking cold. I got a painkiller injection in my butt, and it seriously hurt a lot for 1 minuteㅠㅠ a hellish shot. Because you move unconsciously during sleep anesthesia, they tied both my hands and feet. They inserted a large needle into a blood vessel and drew blood. Then they stuck another large needle somewhere else for IV fluids + antibiotics + an antibiotic allergy test on my foot, gave an injection, and marked it with a circle. 4. They taped my head with tight tape, about 5 layers. When removing it, I think all my hair got pulled out; I ended up with a small bald patch. 5. They sprayed cold disinfectant over my whole face + neck + front of upper body and disinfected twice, with red medicine and transparent medicine. 6. They inserted a long stick deep into my nose to disinfect it (the most distressing part). 7. Sleep anesthesia + local anesthesia, then deep sleep. 8. When I woke up, I opened my eyes with the splint + taping + rib binder + scalp gauze + cotton stuffed up to the glabella of my nose. While still groggy, I lay in the recovery room and got IV fluids. My throat was so dry it felt like it was burning, but because of the risk of reflux if you drink right after surgery, I couldn’t drink water for 30 minutes. 9. I don’t know if I thrashed around during sleep anesthesia, but my heels were red and painful, the rib where the costal cartilage was harvested hurt so much every time I breathed, and I couldn’t get up or sit up by myself. My nose stung like crazy and felt raw, and because of the cotton I couldn’t breathe properly. I could feel pain in every segment of the nasal cartilage. 10. They switched me to a pain-control injection pump, and I was discharged with the needle still inserted.
Day 1 after surgery 1. I couldn’t breathe through my nose, so I woke up every 10 minutes and couldn’t sleep properly. It was suffocating and hellish. 1 minute felt like 10 minutes, and because I couldn’t breathe, I got a headache from lack of oxygen. 2. Because I had to breathe only through my mouth, my throat and lips cracked badly and hurt like crazy. 3. My ribs hurt like being stabbed with a knife every time I breathed, and when I lay down and got up, the pain was so severe I would cry out. 4. Since the inside of my nose was completely blocked with cotton, I couldn’t taste anything even when I ate, but because I had to take 6 pills 3 times a day, I had to force myself to eat.
Day 3 after surgery On day 3, they remove the nasal cotton. As soon as the cotton inside the nose is removed, you can suddenly breathe and feel like you can live again. Blood continues to flow little by little, but it stops within a few hours.
