First of all, the hospital I chose was already very famous by word of mouth in Busan, and no matter how many reviews I looked up for hospitals that were said to be good, I didn’t like them. But as soon as I saw the reviews for this hospital, I thought, “This is the place...” so I decided on it.
Actually, my biggest complex was my nostril wings. I didn’t have an extremely bulbous or fat nose, but my nose looked spread out sideways, so it was incredibly stressful. You know how the nasal ala look spread out every time you smile, right? lol
But somehow, the consultation manager said I didn’t really need to do alar reduction and suggested only doing the nasal bridge and tip. On the first day I went for a consultation, I couldn’t consult with the director, but because I really wanted to do it at this hospital (because of the photo reviews), I boldly scheduled the surgery date without meeting the director.
On the day itself, during the pre-surgery consultation with the director, the director immediately asked whether I was stressed about my nostril wings. So I said yes, and the director said that if it was stressful, it would be good to add alar reduction. So I ended up adding alar reduction as well. The director’s personality was extremely meticulous, so from that point on I trusted them even more!
And because my nose really had no bridge and was spread out, the director said that rather than making it too natural, wouldn’t a pretty nose be better even if it showed a bit that I had work done? So I asked them to proceed that way (I just completely left it in their hands..)
As for how the surgery felt, I’m someone anesthesia doesn’t work well on to begin with, and at this hospital, it didn’t seem like they put me under anesthesia to the point of being completely knocked out (where the surgery is over when you open your eyes). I felt them shaving my bone, the sound, the smell, everything... There were times it hurt too ㅠㅠ They did say anesthesia especially doesn’t work well on me.
What I want to tell you about the surgery is this. While doing the alar reduction, they tied the nostril wings, sat me up (by raising the bed), and put their hand into my nostril (lololol). Then they laid me back down again... They kept doing this until the desired shape came out.. Honestly, while I was conscious, it didn’t hurt, but because they kept repeating it, I got so exhausted that I almost shouted, “Even if my nostrils are uneven, it’s fine, please just finish!!”... Still, because they proceeded so meticulously, I think the shape I wanted came out..
The surgery took almost five hours.. After it was all over, I asked the nurse, “Does it usually take this long..?” and I remember she smiled and answered that it was because the director performs the surgery meticulously. After the surgery, the director really had sweat beading on them ㅠㅠ lol
Honestly, I have a very high tolerance for pain, so after taking painkillers there was never a time I was in pain.. It was just the discomfort everyone talks about! During recovery, when the stitches or the cotton in my nose were removed, it didn’t hurt at all either, just a slight sting..
Because it overlapped with Lunar New Year, I had the splint and all stitches removed on day 6, and there were no issues at all!
However, what I’m worried about today, day 13, is.. I don’t know whether the swelling between my eyebrows is still severe or what, but the area in front of my eyes looks way too gathered together ㅠㅠ I also look kind of like an Avatar... Will this actually go down? ㅠㅠ Other than the glabella area, I’m really satisfied with the side profile and front view of the nose (especially because the asymmetry was corrected so well). It looks exactly like the review that first made me fall for that hospital, so I’m very satisfied.. ㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠ But I look too much like an Avatar ㅠㅠㅠ Seniors, please give me some advice...
