I went for a consultation because this place is famous for bulbous nose correction. It seems many people come here for revision surgery, but one unusual thing is that they correct the bulbous nose and raise or lower the tip using only the nose’s own basic cartilage, without using any cartilage at the tip. That was interesting... Of course, for people with small alar cartilages, they add ear cartilage to raise the tip, but they don’t explain in detail how they can raise the tip without a columellar strut. (Is that an industry secret...) Still, I liked the before-and-after photos.
For people with a very large nose tip, they use an external incision method by cutting vertically through the middle of the bridge, and for others, the tip can be made smaller with just a diamond tip correction procedure.
But the reason I visited this hospital was that I have a type with a small nostril opening and thick alar sides, and most hospitals say they can’t reduce the thickness of the alar sides. Only this hospital said they could widen the nostrils and reduce the thickness of the alar sides, so that’s why I came.
It’s a method that widens the nostrils by making an incision inside them, and as far as I know there are only two hospitals that do this surgery...
People say Korea is the powerhouse of plastic surgery, but when it comes to nostril reduction techniques, Southeast Asia seems to be ahead. I visited 20 clinics, and only two of them offered this method... One director even said such a surgery method doesn’t exist (even though that place is famous for alar surgery...)
It is true that the alar thickness gets reduced and the nostrils get larger, but it does not reduce the visible alar area from the front. Even if they say there will be no scar because of alar dieting, they still reduce the alar sides together with an external incision, so an external incision mark remains on the outer side of the nostrils.
And for building up the bridge, they mentioned Megaderm, but honestly I didn’t like the material. Even for a first surgery, it’s more expensive than major hospitals famous for nose surgery, and if you say you want to use a different material instead of Megaderm or their recommended materials, the cost goes up even more. Price-wise, it is expensive.
This place may be worth considering for people thinking about revision surgery, people with a really severe bulbous nose, or people like me with small nostrils and thick alar sides. Just getting the alar dieting procedure here might not be a bad option.
