You really shouldn’t think of it as a simple(?) surgery like eyes or nose. I’m reflecting on that now. Watching YouTubers say it’s really nothing special, there’s no pain of shaving bone, and so on, I think I took it way too lightly.
To talk about what I experienced, for reference, I had 3 types done. It wasn’t that any one part of me was especially angular; I did it because I wanted to reduce the overall empty space and have celebrity-level looks
Day 1: Because I had general anesthesia, I was so dizzy I thought I was going crazy. After waking from anesthesia and being moved to the recovery room in a daze, I immediately asked the nurse for a bowl and vomited stomach acid 4 times because I was fasting. (Even in the middle of that, I was worried it might strain the surgical result, so I only tensed my neck, not my face, and without letting it pass through my mouth, I sprayed it directly from throat -> lips) The swelling wasn’t that severe
Day 2: The swelling suddenly rises like crazy.. Almost to the level of a toad or Fan Lady. The dizziness from the aftereffects of general anesthesia was so severe that I got painkillers and stayed hospitalized for a day, but then, once all the anesthetic gas had left, the throat pain that I hadn’t noticed because the pain relief had relatively masked it came rushing in. They say that during general gas anesthesia, a tube is inserted into the throat, and in that process the throat can be injured, causing inflammation and swelling. The symptom is like swollen tonsils; it hurts when you swallow saliva. Normally it might be okay, but when your face is swollen and your immunity is down, if your throat hurts it drives you crazy.. People who did it together with nose surgery are amazing. It hurts every time I swallow saliva, and there is a lot of phlegm stuck in my throat, but because it’s swollen I can’t spit it out or swallow it..
Day 3: The swelling rises like crazy again. Day 3 hits an all-time peak. This was exactly when I started feeling regret. What glory was I chasing to do something like this.. I couldn’t even open my eyes, there were dark bruises under my eyes like a panda, dark bruises around my lips, my lips became huge like mentaiko, and whether my nose became smaller or my face became bigger, my nose looked so tiny it was buried lol My face became 1.5 times bigger, and the swelling went down unevenly too, making it look like I had cheek hollows
Day 4: The swelling starts to go down. I can now open my eyes wide, maybe? But the blood vessels in my eyes burst... I think I’ll need to look at about 3 weeks for this ㅜ
Now it’s Day 5, and as soon as I woke up I could clearly feel the swelling had gone down. Now it only has to keep going down, and if I go to the hospital on the weekend and get swelling care, it should get even better.
I researched a lot too, but what I felt this time is that if you at least work at a company, you’d probably need to take a month off to be able to do it without getting caught. Saying 1-2 weeks feels like brokers encouraging surgery. I think that amount of time is just enough for the major swelling to go down, but it still looks very obvious that you had surgery, at the level of “I had surgery, but I can do basic daily activities.” Also, when you look at reviews, everyone has no swelling, and while it differs by constitution, you shouldn’t believe that either... They could take a 1-month photo and lie that it’s Day 10, so if you really want surgery without getting caught, I’d strongly recommend taking a lot of time off.
I’m a newcomer who hasn’t been long since surgery and the content is a bit lacking, but although the symptoms I experienced are improving, I thought it would be good to share information. Thank you for reading this long post.
