I had the tip of my nose done, but because the cartilage was showing, I’ve booked a revision surgery. At the first surgery, I asked them to make it natural, but they pushed the tip up too much and the cartilage is showing. PIAL is a place that does flashy eyes and noses, so only go there if you want something glamorous.
The standout thing is that the director is kind and empathizes well. But the other parts really damaged my impression.
First, they didn’t explain the surgery process in detail, so I only found out a year later when I came back because of a side effect that they had stacked the cartilage like a tower. When I went to another hospital and got a CT scan, I was told that they had used the septum in the surgery, something they hadn’t even mentioned in the consultation. They didn’t explain the post-op process fully, so I keep learning after the surgery how it was actually done.
Post-op care is also a mess. Of course after surgery they give you skincare products and sheet masks. But isn’t checking the surgery progress more important? There’s no follow-up on the recovery here. The only time they looked was for 10 seconds during disinfection. So when I asked them to check my progress after one month and after six months, I had to go through a long ordeal just to make an appointment, and even then they finally squeezed me in (when I booked for the surgery, they gave me a slot right away, but every time I ask for a follow-up, the director always has a personal schedule, and even when I barely get an appointment, the wait is over an hour).
The waiting time is way too long every time I book. Even on the day of my surgery, I didn’t go in until three hours late, and when I came out of anesthesia it was 10:30 p.m., so I practically got kicked out of the hospital. I was staggering into the pharmacy while still under anesthesia, and even the pharmacist asked if I was really okay. Even on ordinary visits, I always wait at least an hour. It’s obvious they can’t manage time..
I’ve also had double eyelid surgery before, and that time I felt perfectly fine, almost like I was suited for surgery. But here, I could feel that the anesthesia was extremely strong. I couldn’t get my head together. (This is my personal feeling)
And the operating room itself isn’t that great.. The surgical table has a clear PVC? plastic cover on it, and maybe because it wasn’t replaced for a long time, the hip and head areas had turned yellow. You all know what I mean, right..?
Also, they make you wash your face in the waiting room before surgery.. There’s a washbasin in the waiting room.. I thought it was for washing hands, but there’s no towel, so water drips everywhere.. They do have tissues for wiping hands though (and unless it’s right before surgery, you have to wait in the waiting room you see as soon as you get off the elevator even after washing your face.. so awkward;;)
The director is quite empathetic, but the manager is polite in tone yet mechanical and passive, and after the surgery it becomes so hard to get an appointment that it’s almost impossible to see their face again.
