Review of protruding-mouth correction I had in high school It’s already been 7 years Maybe my protruding mouth wasn’t severe, because I didn’t have any extractions at all and didn’t get braces with wires either. I just used clear removable orthodontic aligners (the denture-like thing usually used as a retainer toward the end after orthodontic treatment is finished), and wore them all the time except when eating. Every month I visited the clinic, had impressions taken of my teeth > then received a new clear orthodontic appliance based on those impressions. It was nice that I didn’t have to get wire braces, but I was a high school student then, so brushing my teeth after meals and cleaning and caring for the orthodontic appliance too was a bit annoying. Anyway, since I had to wear it all the time except when eating, I always had to carry an empty case with me. If I forgot and left it behind, I’d wrap it up in something like tissue to store it, and then it would break inside my bag.. Anyway, managing it like that was really cumbersome, but still, it was nice because it didn’t look obvious that I was doing orthodontic treatment.
Now I have a fixed retainer wire placed behind my teeth, and I remember that after getting this retainer placed, I got lazy and didn’t really go to the clinic much... Compared with how tightly my mouth went in at the beginning, it definitely feels like my mouth has come out sliiightly again (but this might be something only I notice?) It’s definitely beneficial in many ways to listen carefully to what the clinic says...
