This is a re-consultation review for Trend Plastic Surgery Clinic.
My nose doesn’t look very crooked, just slightly crooked, but since I’m spending a lot of money anyway, isn’t it natural to want to correct it? It’s money I earned by working so hard. The left side is slightly crooked. So when I said I wanted the crooked nose to become symmetrical, they said it would be difficult because the corner of my mouth is shifted to the left and I have facial asymmetry. Then they showed me a correction case for a crooked nose, so I said, “This person turned out well,” and they said, “That case turned out extremely well, though?” word for word exactly like that.
They were subtly speaking informally to me. I don’t understand why someone who hasn’t helped my life in any way, isn’t my boss, and isn’t close to me would subtly speak informally to a customer. Anyway, so when I asked, “To what extent can mine be corrected?” they suddenly asked what I had eaten that morning. I said I had eaten pork bone hangover soup, and they asked whether I knew how many grains of rice I had eaten that morning. They said it was like that: a question that is hard to ask but hard to answer.
And when I asked how much the nasal tip would droop after more than 5 years compared with the 1-year mark (whether it would be at a level with almost no change from the 1-year mark), they said, “If you stand a ballpoint pen on a desk, doesn’t it fall over again? Even newly bought jeans can be tight at first and then stretch over time, can’t they? Everything changes. If you don’t want anything to change over time, it’s better to stay natural and not have surgery.”
When I asked whether donated rib cartilage droops more easily than septal cartilage, they said it does not. When I asked whether inflammation occurs more easily, they said there are no statistics and that no one who had donated rib cartilage done by them had developed inflammation. And when I asked whether donated rib cartilage is absorbed easily, they said it is not absorbed and remains as it is, but because the shape changes, some hospitals simply explain it as absorption.
When I asked whether the nasal tip feels hard or tight even when left alone, they said it may or may not. They said if something is inserted, that can happen. After that, I asked about the surgery fee, and they told me I should think a lot about the surgery. So I asked, “Then how much is it?” It was 4.4 million won, but they said the surgery fee is not what’s important and that the director also thinks I should think a lot about the surgery lol after that
At home, I asked them over the phone to ask the director some questions. Then they said my nose wasn’t that crooked, but I was pursuing something excessively straight, so even if they operated, they didn’t think they could satisfy me, and they couldn’t state exactly what percentage would improve. They said they couldn’t make it perfectly straight and symmetrical as if measured with a ruler, and that I worry and think too much about my crooked nose. So I said that most other hospitals also didn’t recommend it, and that if I asked this hospital and they said it couldn’t be done, I was just going to have surgery without correcting the crooked nose. But they said the director is reluctant to operate.
I don’t know how this kind of situation can happen. A patient can ask about what they want improved, so how can they refuse surgery like this... It makes me feel like they refused to operate because they got offended that I asked a lot of questions, so it feels unpleasant. Anyway, at the first consultation I strongly felt they didn’t want to do it here, so there’s nothing to regret, but this clinic doesn’t sugarcoat things just to get patients to have surgery, and they answer questions very honestly, which is why I went for a re-consultation. The cost, based on the consultation I had in 2020, changed to saying donated rib cartilage had to be added as a material, and they said it was 7.15 million won. When I asked by phone how much it would be with autologous costal cartilage, they said 7.5 million plus 10% VAT, for a total of 8.25 million won. I remember they said local anesthesia instead of general anesthesia was possible, and if done that way, the cost would be reduced by about 1 million won.
After the re-consultation, after I had a consultation in 2020 where they said they would operate, this happened in 2024. At the re-consultation they had refused surgery, but at the third consultation in 2020 they said they would operate and I even received an estimate. So I was curious whether there had been a price change and called the clinic, but the manager said they could answer only if I came for a consultation. When I asked when a consultation date was available, she said July x at x o’clock was possible.
So I asked to book it for then, and after saying “yes” in a small voice, she asked my name. When I told her my name, she said in a small voice, “At that time, the director said he wouldn’t operate on you...” like this lololol lololol. So I wondered what she was talking about and said I didn’t remember. Then she said, in a medium-volume voice, “You don’t remember?” I answered yes, and she said, “You came for consultations several times too, right?”
It felt as if she was interrogating me like coming for consultations several times was a crime lol. So I said, “Ah, I think I did come for consultations several times,” and she said, “Right? Your name is familiar too... I’ll look for the chart.” So I asked, “What chart?” and she said, “The consultation chart.” I said yes, and the manager also said yes? lololol
No, what I don’t understand is that she remembers the director said he wouldn’t operate, but doesn’t remember that he later said he would. And if he later said he would, wouldn’t the earlier refusal automatically be canceled? Is that wrong thinking? Also, I don’t even know whether the consultation was booked or not (in the end, they didn’t contact me up to the day itself). It probably wasn’t booked, but treating me like I’m on a blacklist while knowing things inaccurately is absurd. I only had 3 consultations and came about 3 times accompanying an acquaintance who had surgery here. Is that wrong?
And when I’m trying to schedule a consultation, I don’t know why she cares whether they said they would do it or not. A mere employee should just book it if told to book it; I don’t understand why she has so much to say. Whether I have surgery or not is something the director says lol. More precisely, I think whether I do it or not is something I decide.
