I came for a consultation about removal because an implant had slightly poked through the inside of my nose. My nose currently has silicone + ear cartilage + septal cartilage, and in the previous surgery the doctor had put in Medpor without my consent. I didn't know, but the fact that it had broken through means inflammation has developed, and so contracture is progressing.. They had me lie down and examined my nose carefully, then confirmed that the thing that had poked through was Medpor. For now, they said to remove it first and then do a second surgery 6 months to 1 year later to lower the nasal tip with ear cartilage, which made me very unsettled.. They said that would be the safest, and that if we only remove it, the raised nasal tip won't come down, and if we do the lowering surgery together and inflammation occurs, the transplanted cartilage will also all dissolve and have to be removed. Even one surgery is already so painful, so having to do it twice would be psychologically very hard. Also, I found it a bit odd that they said they didn't necessarily need to remove the capsule, and the cost was much higher than I expected, so for now I'm putting it on hold..
