I had surgery to remove my nasal implant on the afternoon of June 7. (Please refer to my previous post for details about why I had the surgery.)
I had consultations at a clinic famous for removals and at the clinic where I had my first surgery. The reason I decided on P** was because they were the only one who said my nasal implant was likely L-shaped silicone! Honestly, I didn’t even know what shape of silicone was in my nose or how many millimeters it was; I simply knew that silicone and ear cartilage had been used. While preparing for removal, I really regretted how unaware I had been.. ㅠㅠ Anyway, they removed the L-shaped silicone and ear cartilage cleanly, and I’m truly grateful to Director P**!
Week 1: I did cold compresses diligently and took my medication properly. The clinic told me to rest completely, so I avoided going out as much as possible and stayed home. After the stitches were removed, I took a light walk in the park for about 30 minutes. (The clinic told me not to even go for walks though;;) Week 2: I walked for an hour every night, and since they said I no longer needed cold compresses, I only changed the taping every day. It’s important to talk as little as possible. I talked a lot, so the open columella scar swelled quite a bit. I continued taking the medication. Week 3: They prescribed Rizaben for one month, and I started applying scar ointment. The swelling went down quite a lot, so I could go out, but I still had swelling between the eyebrows, which made my face look broad and flat, so it was a gloomy period. The height of the nasal bridge between my eyebrows looked the prettiest at this time! A slight bruise remained on the bridge of my nose. Weeks 4-5: The swelling went down noticeably day by day, and my nose became soft. The bruising is all gone too! I was upset because my face looked spread out, but that part improved too. My nasal bridge is a bit lower than before, but it looks more natural than my surgically augmented nose, so I’m very satisfied with the removal!
I had my first surgery when I was 20, without looking into it properly, just after hearing that someone I knew had a good result, and I had it done at a large hospital. The surgical result was good, but they didn’t tell the patient any information about the surgery or method, so later, when I went for removal consultations, it was very frustrating. The chart had already been discarded, and the head director who operated on me supposedly no longer performs surgery.. It was honestly absurd and made me angry. P** Plastic Surgery did the surgery well, but I was truly moved by their aftercare. Because of my circumstances, I couldn’t make phone calls often, but they called me first, asked if anything felt uncomfortable, and even told me to send progress photos. I skipped one day and they called again... They seemed to have so many patients, yet they cared this much, so I was really touched by the consultant!
In conclusion, the removal surgery went well, so right now I feel very comfortable, mentally at ease, don’t have to worry about the implant anymore, and I absolutely love my soft nose! The director said I would go through a contracture phase, but so far there’s nothing unusual, so I’m just hoping it doesn’t happenㅎㅎ
Before surgery, I was anxious, so I had two consultations at P** and kept messaging and calling on KakaoTalk a lot. Thinking about it now, I wonder if I was kind of a difficult patient...;;
For those who are about to have removal surgery, I don’t think you need to worry too much! There seem to be quite a few directors who are good at removal surgery, and I think trusting the director at the clinic you chose to some extent helps you feel more at ease, think more positively, and recover faster. It seemed like recovery was slower when I was mentally anxious.
