Exactly 10 years ago.. July There was a time when Wonjin Plastic Surgery double eyelid surgery was booming because of some event at a cafe.. A few of my middle school friends who were among the first to get double eyelid surgery did it here a lot, and I also saw a lot of cafe event posts, so at the time I didn’t even shop around for consultations and just blindly thought they were good. I begged my mom and got surgery from Dr. Choi at Wonjin during summer vacation. (It was 10 years ago, so I forgot the name. Back then everyone kept saying Dr. Choi, Dr. Choi, so I thought the name was just Dr. Choi. Now I don’t know if they moved to another hospital or where they went, but they disappeared.) Even 10 years ago the hospital was large. There were many Chinese patients too, exactly the model of a factory-style hospital, but I was so happy thinking my lifelong wish for double eyelid surgery was finally coming true.
As for the surgery review, I understand that nowadays they apply anesthetic ointment, put you under sedation, then do local anesthesia, but back then, for me, they didn’t even sedate me and injected anesthesia straight into my eyeball area, and it really hurt. I think that pain was the worst pain of my life. With my arms and legs tied down, I thought, ah.. no matter what happens, I really can’t do double eyelid surgery twice. The crisp cutting sound of flesh being cut.. and the feeling of my eyes being pulled with thread are still vivid. Meanwhile, they said I’d bruise if I put strength into my eyes, so even though the lights made my eyes incredibly dazzled, I was trying on my own to relax my eyes. I don’t know if it was hot because it was summer or because I was nervous, but I was sweating cold sweat through the surgery.
The result was botched. I had a partial incision, but the double eyelid line was strange too, and thinking back now, after summer vacation ended, my teachers’ and friends’ reactions weren’t very good. (But when I was young, I thought even a weird double eyelid was still a double eyelid, so having one was better than not having one. I lived with Wonyoung-style thinking lol.)
Eventually, after I became an adult, the double eyelid completely loosened. It didn’t just loosen; it returned to monolids, so I had revision surgery with an incision at another hospital. When I had a consultation at the hospital where I got the revision, they were upset and asked what on earth the previous place had done to tear the child’s epicanthoplasty like this, and criticized it.
So this time I’m even looking into epicanthoplasty restoration.
I don’t know how honestly I should write, but anyway, it’s a hospital on my personal blacklist. I’ll never go again. I’m at the point where I should get my money back. The hospital was already big 10 years ago, and it’s amazing that it has gotten even bigger.
