I visited 11 clinics including the one where I had my first surgery, and I put down a deposit here. Since this is a revision surgery, I have a lot of worries, and I just hope this will be my last surgery. [Doctor consultation] What makes this place different from others is that they offer alternatives to achieve what the patient wants for the current nose. They present what is essential and what is additional (mostly related to aesthetics) and explain the side effects that may arise accordingly. And when I asked about the parts I was worried about, they explained why those symptoms happen and how to prevent them from happening.. At other plastic surgery clinics, when I ask about my concerns out of anxiety, they either brush it off as if it's no big deal, say that if I'm worried about things like that then I shouldn't get plastic surgery, or say something like I shouldn't put in an implant. But here, they try their best to find solutions together. Their tone isn't especially warm, but if I ask for things and ask questions, they give detailed answers over a long consultation, and it feels like at least the doctor is responsible. Some clinics mostly let the consultation manager show patient photos, right? Here, they don't do that, and the doctor comes directly to the consultation seat to touch the nose themselves.. (At other clinics, the patient usually has to sit next to the doctor, right..). One disappointing point for revision surgery is that they don't do CT scans here.. I had already taken plenty of CTs at other clinics, so I consulted based on the results I heard there. This is one of the few clinics that actually touches inside the nose with a hand instead of just a cotton swab (among the clinics I consulted, only two touched inside the nose directly with a hand..) I kept thinking about it, went back for another consultation, and decided on the surgery.
[Consultation staff] Here, the consultation staff only coordinate dates and explain the price. There are no suggestions like saying which aesthetic points should be improved.. If you don't already have your own aesthetic 기준 in mind, I think you'd end up feeling a bit lost at this clinic. Also, even if you book a consultation, it gets delayed by at least 30 minutes, and the staff don't really tell you about that while you're waiting. They just feel like the front desk staff at a neighborhood clinic.
[Expected surgery] For me, safety > beauty, so I ultimately chose this place. Honestly, their surgery photos aren't especially flashy or pretty, but to me they looked natural and quietly pretty. During the consultation, besides the photos on the director's blog, I saw quite a few revision-surgery photos too, so in my own judgment I chose it because I thought it would result in a decent shape. I don't have huge expectations that I'll become dramatically prettier, but I did choose it because I think the parts I want to improve will definitely be corrected, and the surgery will be done in a safe, standard way.
In my case, it's been 7 years since my surgery, and I'm very dull, so honestly after the first surgery, once the swelling went down and about 3 months had passed, the boundary between the silicone and the nasal tip already looked indented on the bridge of my nose.. but I just thought, well, this is what natural looks like, and lived with it. Compared to people who are really into plastic surgery, I'm pretty indifferent.. But over time it got a bit worse, and with the COVID era I judged it was the right time for revision surgery, so I'm going for it. Because of that, I think rhinoplasty ultimately needs to be done with a long-term view and with the expectation that you may eventually need revision surgery. So honestly, when I’m much older, I think it would be right to get a revision here using a standard method that also keeps removal in mind later, so that’s why I decided on it.
