I also had facial contouring done here, but there weren’t many reviews.. So I don’t know how the result will turn out, but since my facial contouring was honestly extremely satisfying, I’m writing an honest review hoping it will help many people.
***It may look like an ad, but first I want to say this is not an ad. I paid for everything myself and am writing this honestly. If the result ends up looking bad, I may come back and criticize it lololololololol***
Surgery details: bulbous nose correction, osteotomy, silicone implant, ear cartilage, rhinitis treatment including deviated septum, nasal valve, and several others
For 8 years, I didn’t like my nose, got fillers, and only kept thinking about surgery, then finally had the surgery during my vacation period. First, there were a few reasons why I chose this hospital out of the many hospitals in Seomyeon.
1. The only hospital that mentioned extending the nose length -Yes, when I heard it, I also thought, what nonsense is that.. But after thinking about it for months, I realized that when we look in the mirror up close, the viewing angle is effectively more from above looking downward. Because of that, it becomes hard to look at ourselves objectively with our own eyes. An upturned nose looks less upturned. Once I realized that, I booked right away.
2. I was worried about the functional part. -I had a slight tendency toward rhinitis. It wasn’t severe, about a level that didn’t interfere with daily life? But I saw some reviews saying that after osteotomy, breathing becomes difficult. (For reference, these are things I picked up over 8 years from browsing countless plastic surgery and beauty communities, including various communities and groups for people harmed by plastic surgery.) There were other places where I liked the cost, process, or doctor, but I felt uncertain about those parts and came back to this one.
3. I think the hospital system is good. -This is TMI, but I currently work as an engineer in the mechanical field. Maybe because of that, I paid attention to safety and systems. When you undergo general anesthesia, we breathe through a machine called a ventilator that takes over oxygen breathing for us. It’s a situation where your body doesn’t listen to you. If a power outage happens in that situation? You can’t breathe and die. Just literally. This place has emergency power generation equipment, so I worried a bit less about that part. Also, there is a separate floor only for surgery, and outsiders are not allowed to enter. They say it is sterile, and I’m not fully convinced, but I thought that because it is relatively free of bacteria, inflammation caused by bacteria during surgery could be avoided as much as possible.
4. Actually, I think I had consultations with the director here about my nose only, 4 times. -I wanted to ask everything I was curious about and share as much as possible about my wishes and the feeling of the result I wanted. Honestly, anxiety was the biggest part.
Those were the parts that attracted me, and to be honest, there was originally another hospital I liked, so I agonized a lot...
Then on the day of surgery, I arrived at 10 and went into surgery at 11:30. (It felt a bit late, but I understood. I knew this doctor was someone who would not tolerate not personally checking the progress of a patient they operated on, so I thought, as long as the result is good..) They said, “You’ll go to sleep now~” and when I opened my eyes, I was in the hospital room. I wanted something natural but not too low, so it must have been difficult for the director... The surgical method was to insert silicone only in half of the nasal bridge and use all ear cartilage without using septal cartilage. I also looked up this surgical method in papers, and it did exist. There were pros and cons.
-Pros 1. It looks natural -When septal cartilage is used, the nasal tip is maintained with strong fixation, so there is no change in the position of the nasal tip when smiling or opening the mouth, which can cause pulling and an unnatural feel. 2. After full recovery, you can make a pig nose and move the nose left and right(?) -As it says, silicone is inserted only into half of the nasal bridge, meaning half the amount of silicone we usually know, cut and inserted only up to the nasal bone area, so I understand that this method makes that possible. As much as that, when we speak, cry, laugh, and make facial expressions, anatomically, many muscles directly and indirectly affect the nose, and in that respect this method is much less affected. -Cons 1. Surgery time -Compared with the surgery using septal cartilage that we commonly know, the difficulty is higher, so the surgery time is long. Accordingly, bleeding increases and the risks would also increase. -One of the reasons I chose this hospital after receiving consultations for 8 years was the surgeon’s career and surgical method. Of course, I also thought they would do a nose that matched my facial contouring well because they did my facial contouring so well! + including the hospital system. 2. Ear deformation prevention plug? -This may be something I’m saying without knowing well. I don’t know whether, in surgeries that usually use septal cartilage, even if ear cartilage is used, they use an earplug or cap? to prevent ear deformation. I had never heard of it. But since this place inserts only half the silicone, maybe because a lot of ear cartilage is used, they said I have to wear something to prevent ear deformation for two months. This is seriously so uncomfortable.. 3. Surgery cost -The cost is somewhat expensive.
Those are about the pros and cons, and now the interim result. The parts I considered important were: When the swelling goes down, the eye shape must not change, and it must look natural. Maybe because I told them this in advance, I checked in the mirror right after surgery and it looked okay. I was very satisfied with that alone. Other than that, there weren’t many ways to check much... so I don’t know either.
Now that I’ve written it all, it may feel like an ad... Still, I’m leaving this post because I hope everyone has more choices. I worried for 8 years and spent the last 2 years searching for hospitals and going to consultations, but there were almost no reviews about this place. I don’t know why.
I’ll stop here for today. Since I’m using both hands to type on the keyboard, I can’t do my ice pack right now...ㅠㅠ It’s throbbing. Everyone says this about rhinoplasty, but more than pain, the discomfort is.... so this is what it’s like.....
Oh, and because I also had rhinitis treatment, I have to keep my nose packed for 5 days. Holy shit... I hope that’s useful for reference.
