I went to consult about removing and revising a nose that had gotten shorter and turned up after surgery long ago, not due to contracture. They recommended revision more than removal, and explained a safe surgical method that would likely produce a less dramatic result than other places. They didn’t use any materials that could cause problems later, like silicone or donated dermis. They expected that ear cartilage alone would be enough to bring the nose down, and that there would probably still be a lot of septal cartilage left, so as a surgical material it was what appealed to me most. They said the capsule should not be completely removed, and that only a partial removal at the tip was appropriate, because removing the bridge too would make the skin too thin. This part seems to vary by hospital, so I’m not sure what the answer is
The director seemed more like someone who would answer after hearing my questions, rather than proactively telling me everything first. I think it would have been more helpful if I had brought a list of questions and photos when I went for the consultation haha The estimate was on the lower side among the places I visited, and there was no waiting time.
