On the first day after surgery, my vision was really blurry and there was so little conjunctival edema that I even wondered if I wouldn’t get any at all. But from the next day on, the conjunctiva gradually swelled up as if it were about to burst, and I couldn’t properly close my eyesㅠ So since I couldn’t close my eyes, I guess my eyelids slept with the conjunctival edema pinched in between...? When I woke up, my eyes were extremely dry, like they were about to pop out, and there was so much eye discharge that I feel like I used up two boxes of cotton swabs and two boxes of artificial tears...^^ Maybe it was because my eyes suddenly got so much bigger...? But one thing is certain: even though my eyes were swollen, they did get bigger...? I iced 5-6 times a day and tried not to eat salty food so the swelling would go down, and for the first few days I basically slept sitting upㅜ Also, the conjunctival edema was uneven on both sides, and the line under my eyes also looked uneven, probably because of the swellingㅜ I just hoped it would stay closed and heal like this? And the stitches were removed in two stages, with the first set coming out on day 5 and the second on day 8! I was really worried because people said stitch removal hurts, but it only stung a little and I was fineㅎㅎ And strangely, after the second stitch removal, I left the hospital and walked around, and the puffy swelling from the conjunctival edema suddenly deflated as if the air had been let out...? I wonder if I was the only one that happened toㅜㅜ After everything was completely removed, I woke up with my eyes covered in blood, but I heard that can happen after stitch removal...? So if anyone has the same symptom, don’t worry too much...! They said the swelling really starts going down after stitch removal, and that was true for me too. From that point on, the swelling went down fast, the eyes that had looked smaller because of the swelling seemed bigger, and even the bruising felt like it was fading more easily? I had bruising and a lot of swelling in my nose and cheeks tooㅠ They told me before surgery that dissolvable stitches might poke out, and when one did, I contacted the hospital and they made an appointment right away so I went in and had that removed too! Around weeks 2-3, rather than the swelling visibly going down or feeling like I was healing a lot, it felt more like the wound was just knitting together...? That feeling was stronger! I also used to avoid looking sideways because when I tried, it felt like my eyes were tearing, but now that feels more natural too! My eyes are also starting to stick together more as they heal compared with when the stitches were first removed, so I kind of want them to stop doing that now...?ㅎ I still have a lot of redness at the outer corners, there’s still a thin layer of conjunctival edema left, and in one eye the lateral canthoplasty area is a little separated from the pupil, but they said time will fix that, so I’m going to wait! And it still hurts when I touch it, so I’m always careful, and the incision scars under my eyes are uneven on both sides and really bother me, so when I asked, they said they do not recommend putting ointment on the scars! They recommended sunscreen because UV exposure is bad, and since UV can darken scars, I always wear sunglasses when I’m outdoors! I hope it heals completely soonㅜㅜㅠㅜ
