It has been a little over a month since I had lateral canthoplasty. I worried about it for a year and then went for it. Of course, I also went to many consultations and gathered as much information as possible before choosing. I was not going to do it because I was afraid of side effects, but every time I lowered the outer corners of my eyes in Photoshop, I felt the urge to do it, so I decided to go ahead.
For the surgery, I had it fixed to the periosteum with non-dissolvable sutures. It is a place many people come to for canthoplasty revision surgery, so even though it cost a bit more than other places, I decided to do it here. I do not know if it was because of my constitution, but I had severe conjunctival edema ㅠㅠ For about two and a half weeks, it looked like a lump was flowing down from my eye ㅋㅋㅋ When I look at photos from then, it is seriously horrifying. It is still a little bloodshot now, but they said this will gradually go away if I leave it alone. Still, the eye-globe contact is good and I do not have any stinging sensation. It was operated in a V shape, so there was no risk of it healing into a ㄷ shape. I already developed a bit of dry eye when I had LASEK a few years ago, so I do not really know whether it has worsened..
I really like the shape right now, but I am worried because it will rise little by little over the next 2 months ㅠㅠ I hope it does not rise much, so I keep my eyes closed whenever possible ㅋㅋㅋ From the beginning, I did not expect a huge effect, and I just wanted it to come out about the same shape as when I did lateral-canthoplasty-style makeup before surgery. There was not much room to open, so the director also said there would be no effect of making my eyes longer, and instead recommended epicanthoplasty. I did not do it then because I was afraid my eyes would look too close together, but now I wish I had done epicanthoplasty too.
For now, I like that the outer corners of my eyes have definitely come down and that the lower area is slightly opened too, but if it rises a lot after 2-3 months, I am also considering lower canthoplasty.
The top 2 photos are before surgery, and the bottom 2 are after surgery.
