Reason I got plastic surgery: I’m a man. When I was young, I injured my face and had a scar between my nose and glabella, so that area was a bit sunken in. I lived without really caring about it, but my mother kept telling me to get plastic surgery. She said she had looked into everything, so we went to a famous place. The director doing the consultation said I had a deviated septum and suggested doing surgery for that at the same time, using only the septal cartilage that came out from it to fill the area. Everywhere else only talked about silicone, so I wasn’t going to do it, but here they said it was possible with autologous cartilage, so I paid about 5.8 million won and had it done. Day of surgery: General anesthesia felt burdensome, so I said I would do sedation anesthesia, but then the anesthesiologist came and kept saying we should switch to general anesthesia. They said if it was sedation, the doctor would feel too uneasy to operate. They said it was up to me, but they wouldn’t take responsibility for the result. Thinking about it now, I should have walked out then and said I wouldn’t do it... Then suddenly they said, let’s raise the nasal tip too, if we only raise the tip the nose will come alive, and that they would use only the septal cartilage and there would be no need to use ear cartilage, so I agreed. I had zero knowledge about plastic surgery, so I didn’t even know what it was and agreed again..... Surgery result: I like the area filled between the brows, but it feels a bit tight, and the nose is bent from where the nasal cartilage starts, but the hospital wouldn’t acknowledge it. When I asked why they took ear cartilage, they said, didn’t you say you had been injured before? They said the septum had collapsed a lot, so not much quantity came out, and that’s why they used ear cartilage. They said the crooked nose was originally like that, and that deviated septum surgery only treats the inside, while the outside is a separate surgery. They said if they had told me, I probably wouldn’t have had the surgery. Maybe because the nose is crooked, one side around the nostril wing has completely sunken in and it became a pinched nose... This is a bit long, and I’m not good at writing, but I had nowhere to talk about it, so I wrote it. Since then, I’ve been looking into plastic surgery clinics myself. If you know any places, I’d appreciate it if you could let me know.
