There was a doctor named William Carlos Williams, who was both a pediatrician and a poet. When you meet a kind doctor, a warm doctor, it makes you feel good. Their kindness is a way of doing their work better, a more refined way of doing it. That’s how I felt about Dr. Park Jong-cheol. It was my 4th eye surgery, and I became human. Among plastic surgeons, meeting a doctor who truly feels like a doctor is luck. Before going for the consultation, there were opinions that he speaks strongly, but I think maybe that happens when he feels frustrated because someone is being unreasonable. Dr. Park only does revision surgeries, so there are many people who are emotionally struggling. But he really recommends the method that is for me. His surgical skill is truly beyond words, and I was moved because he treated me so warmly on the day of surgery. Maybe his hand skills are incredible, because even though it was my 4th surgery, it was the first time I had this little swelling. Recovery was fast after that too, and after 3 months I was wearing makeup and going around fine. It has been over 3 years now, and my exhausting asymmetrical eyes have really improved by 99%, so I’m living with so, so much gratitude. It feels like this is what it means for quality of life to improve and to live like a human being. This isn’t cosmetic surgery; it’s surgery that heals the heart and changes your life. My eyes didn’t look normal without eyeliner before, but now my eyes themselves are pretty, so I don’t even draw eyeliner and go out bare-faced. He is truly the benefactor of my life. I hope he lives a long and healthy life.
