Hello, this is my first time posting. I think this may be helpful for people who are curious about ptosis surgery reviews for medical purposes rather than cosmetic purposes. I don’t remember the exact year very well, but a few years ago I had ptosis surgery at a famous university hospital in Seoul. As I wrote in the title, it was surgery mainly for medical purposes rather than cosmetic purposes, and to start with the conclusion, I’m about 90% satisfied. Since I was young, I honestly haven’t had much vanity? about my appearance, so I lived being satisfied with my face, but my eyes always used my forehead muscles severely when opening them, so I lived a life where I got tired much faster than other people. Then an ophthalmology clinic I went to often diagnosed me as having severe ptosis, so with my doctor’s written opinion, I had a consultation with a professor at a recommended university hospital. The doctor was personally acquainted with him and said he was one of Korea’s top authorities on ptosis surgery itself, telling me to trust him and go, so I trusted that and went. He was so famous and highly reputed that even scheduling the consultation took quite a while. And when I met him, he diagnosed my condition very kindly and clearly. There were many people around me who had successful eye plastic surgery, and because of a strong recommendation from an acquaintance, I also considered getting it done at a famous plastic surgery clinic in Gangnam that had a deep connection with him. But I myself was scared of having a knife put to my face, and (I still haven’t fully overcome the experience of having surgery on my forehead when I was young with almost no anesthesia ㅠㅠ) I considered everything, like whether a reliable anesthesiology specialist would definitely be present, and the possibility of a shadow doctor doing it, so I thought a university hospital would still be better and decided to have the surgery here. At the same time as setting the surgery date, I had a physical examination, and I remember it took about three hours to complete everything. There were so many surgeries backed up that the earliest possible date for my surgery was 1 year and 3 months from that date. For me, it honestly wasn’t a big problem, so I just waited blindly. Rather, having a long time made my initially somewhat skeptical attitude settle down, and it was good because I could prepare myself mentally. On the day of surgery, I went to the hospital with two guardians, met the professor who would perform the surgery again, greeted each other saying please take good care of me, and coordinated the details. Originally, medical-purpose ptosis surgery generally involves an incision around the eyebrow area, but this professor was also well known for surgery involving a direct incision on the eye, so he suggested that since I was getting it done anyway, how about creating a new line, and I accepted. My original eyes had inner double eyelids, but they were not visible when I opened my eyes. And the incision was made as an outline fold. The professor tends to aim for natural-looking eyes, so he gives his opinion as a doctor on what would suit the patient’s eyes best, but if I was going to make double eyelids anyway, I preferred an outline, so he just did it the way I wanted. The surgery was performed by the professor himself, with an anesthesiology specialist present, under local anesthesia, and it took about an hour and a half to two hours. Anesthesia doesn’t work well on me, so in the middle to latter part it wore off and I suffered terribly again ㅠㅠ Ha... I still can’t forget the feeling of my flesh being stitched and cauterized, kkeol kkeol kkeol. I’ll think I’ll forget someday and train myself to stay positive. After the first surgery ended, I was hospitalized for about two to three days, and I honestly only remember that it hurt a lot and I was dizzy. I’m a bit obsessive about cleanliness, so more than anything else, not being able to wash properly was the hardestㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ I couldn’t stand it and even showered, but I don’t know if it was because of that or because of my constitution, the swelling didn’t go down well. Other than that, I was satisfied with every part. Oh, and the hospital bill cost a lot.... It was probably because everything was added together, like the specialist and a pretty good private room and various other parts, but honestly, I don’t regret it. It was a surgery I could trust, and I thought it was really a good thing that I waited and had it done. The reason I wrote above that I’m about 90% satisfied is because points are deducted for two things: 1) it took about a year for the swelling to properly go down and become much more natural, and 2) the incision scar is clear, so anyone can tell it’s a surgical scar. Other than those two, it was an experience I was very satisfied with in every way. Honestly, even other people may notice some parts, but I’m the type to live without caring much, so I don’t really think anything of itㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ And it doesn’t look disharmonious with my current facial features other than my eyes, so I’m quite satisfied. Korea’s medical technology and service level are all really amazingㅠㅠ Even if I had to do it again, it was good enough that I would wait and get it from that professor again.
