I got a lot of help from consultation reviews in this community, so I’m leaving one too~
I live overseas, so I first narrowed it down to about 20-30 places through online research, then packed my in-person consultations tightly into my schedule (roughly setting 10 places as the cutoff). Honestly, after going around for a day or two, I got even more confused and it was so exhausting that I don’t think I could have done more than 10 even if I wanted to. I actually went to 9 places. After moving various appointments around, it was hard to fill all 10 slots.
First, my eyes are monolids + epicanthal folds, and I have no previous cosmetic surgery history. My criteria for narrowing down clinics were roughly: - Single-doctor clinics / eye-specialized clinics - Natural-looking line (in-out) - At first I narrowed things down through ㅂㅂㅌ and ㄱㄴㅇㄴ, but there were too many ads, so I ultimately settled on this community - For the final list, I decided by narrowing down other people’s reviews as much as possible ( - People around me had non-incisional double-eyelid surgery and many of them loosened, so I was leaning heavily toward incision. Since I live overseas, I was worried it would be inconvenient if it came undone and I had to come back to Korea
1. ㅋㅇㅍㄹㅅ (ㄱㅅㅇ) Recommended surgery: partial-incision inline double eyelid + epicanthoplasty Price: high 2 million KRW range Doctor’s number of surgeries per day: 2 Anesthesia: sedation + local Surgery time: 1 hour 30 minutes Consultation review: As soon as the doctor saw me, double-eyelid surgery was put on the back burner, and they said I needed to take good care of my hair + fine forehead wrinkles Honestly, it was such a harsh truth bomb from the start that I remember being a bit stunned. But I do think the doctor has an aesthetic sense. They seemed good at figuring out how to improve the overall vibe. It was my first consultation, and they were kind and tried the most lines on me
2. ㄴㅅㅎ (ㄴㅅㅎ) Recommended surgery: non-incisional in-out double eyelid + epicanthoplasty + under-eye fat repositioning Price: mid 1 million KRW range (non-incisional + epicanthoplasty) Doctor’s number of surgeries per day: I forgot and couldn’t ask Anesthesia: sedation + local (local anesthesia alone also possible) Consultation review: The doctor seemed like they try to do as much as possible in the direction the patient wants? They asked what surgeries I wanted/didn’t want, and when I wrote that I didn’t want ptosis correction, as soon as they came in they said I seemed a bit conservative… First, they recommended that since non-incisional surgery was possible, I didn’t necessarily need incision (their A/S period is also much longer than other clinics, so maybe they’re confident in non-incisional surgery..?). Unlike other doctors, they didn’t strongly recommend doing specific procedures. For under-eye fat repositioning too, I asked about it, and they said it might be good to do? with that kind of nuance
3. ㅈㅇㅈㅇ (ㄱㅂㅇ) Recommended surgery: non-incisional double eyelid + ptosis correction + epicanthoplasty Price: high 1 million KRW range? Honestly, I don’t remember well.. The consultation wasn’t good, so I only asked questions roughly Doctor’s number of surgeries per day: 4 Anesthesia: sedation + local (local only possible) Consultation review: They pushed back my appointment time on the day itself, and even at that time, the doctor’s surgery was delayed, so in the end I got another consultation and came back… The consultation was also the worst, and this was probably the place where I waited the longest? The doctor looked tired, and unlike the reviews, they looked at me for about 5 minutes and seemed busy going to the next appointment. I said I didn’t really want ptosis correction, but they pushed it a bit, saying I still needed it for my eyes to open well. I had expectations, but honestly I was really disappointed
4. ㄱㅎㅅ (ㄱㅎㅅ) Recommended surgery: incision + epicanthoplasty + ptosis correction Price: high 1 million KRW range Doctor’s number of surgeries per day: I forgot and couldn’t ask Anesthesia: sedation + local (local only possible) Consultation review: This was the only place where the consultant recommended ptosis correction, so I was a bit taken aback, but the doctor recommended it too; the doctor themself seemed a bit firm and seemed to have clear aesthetic standards. When I said I didn’t want ptosis correction, they said it was possible to proceed without it too (looking at other reviews, it seems they recommend ptosis correction quite a bit…?) Looking at the other people with appointments, many seemed a bit older, so I did feel it might not really suit me
5. ㅋㅅㅌ (ㄱㅈㅎ) Recommended surgery: non-incisional double eyelid + 45-degree epicanthoplasty + eyelid fat removal Price: mid 1 million KRW range Doctor’s number of surgeries per day: 4-6 Anesthesia: sedation + local Consultation review: The 45-degree epicanthoplasty seemed to be their selling point, but when I actually went to other consultations too, they said epicanthoplasty usually doesn’t just open the front but also opens upward a bit… Still, looking at their surgery review photos, even incision swelling seemed to go down pretty quickly, and the doctor was kind, so the consultation itself wasn’t bad.
6. ㅅㅅ (ㅅㅈㅎ) Recommended surgery: incision + epicanthoplasty Price: mid 2 million KRW range Doctor’s number of surgeries per day: 5 Anesthesia: sedation + local (local only possible) Consultation review: The consultations with both the consultant and doctor were straightforward and good. They immediately pointed out the incision + epicanthoplasty I had been thinking of, so I was leaning toward them a bit, but after seeing reviews in this community, I decided on somewhere else
7. ㅋㄹ (ㄱㅎㅅ) Recommended surgery: recommended another clinic Price: mid 1 million KRW range Doctor’s number of surgeries per day: Didn’t ask Anesthesia: Didn’t ask Consultation review: They were really so kind! As soon as they saw my eyes, they said they were eyes where non-incisional surgery was possible, but there was also a pretty high chance it could loosen, so they recommended going to another clinic and just getting incision As rumored, the consultation felt very conscientious, and after this consultation, I made up my mind about incision. Even though I wasn’t getting surgery there, they tried lots of lines on me, and they kind of had a neighborhood uncle vibe
8. ㅇㅇㅎ (ㅂㅂㅎ) Recommended surgery: epicanthoplasty + ptosis correction + incision Price: high 2 million KRW range? The consultation wasn’t good, so I didn’t really write it down… Doctor’s number of surgeries per day: Didn’t ask Anesthesia: sedation + local Consultation review: The consultation wasn’t good… The doctor pushed only their own preferred aesthetic really hard, and when I said I didn’t want ptosis correction, they said if that was the case, it would be worse than not doing eye surgery at all; when I mentioned side effects of ptosis correction, they said those happened because they themselves didn’t do it… It was pretty unpleasant to hear. I also waited over an hour, and even the 10,000 won consultation fee felt like such a waste. Of course, a plastic surgeon can recommend surgery, but it strongly felt like “do it exactly as I say”
9. ㅍㄹㅇㅂ (ㅇㅈㅇ) Recommended surgery: epicanthoplasty + incision + ptosis correction Price: mid 2 million KRW range Doctor’s number of surgeries per day: 3 Anesthesia: sedation + local (local only possible) Consultation review: I liked that the doctor was no-nonsense and said only what needed to be said. When I said I didn’t want ptosis correction, they said it was possible to do it without ptosis correction too, but they explained convincingly that they had recommended the surgery that would bring out the best result as much as possible. They said if I don’t do ptosis correction, I might look a little sleepy, but if I’m satisfied, it doesn’t matter.
Other than these, places I wanted to go but couldn’t because I didn’t book in advance were: - ㅇㅇㅋ - ㅍㄹㅁㅅ - ㅇㅇㅋㅌ - ㅇㅇㄱㄹ - ㄸㅋ
Except for the last place, I think you need to book 2-3 months in advance!
I looked through this community and narrowed down my questions in advance, then prepared them for my consultations. If you prepare in advance, it should help during your consultations!
I had absolutely no pressure to book on the same day. Since when you go into the consultation, if you say in advance that you’re also going to consultations elsewhere and will decide after seeing all of them, that might help…?
