1. Reason for surgery I was always dissatisfied with the square jaw on my face. I hated having to go around covering it with my hair, and every time I took photos or looked in the mirror, the part I always felt disappointed with was my face shape. Honestly, it was a complex that only I noticed and other people didn’t really know about. But everyone has something like that, rightㅜㅜ Parts that other people don’t notice but that stand out especially to you and bother you... For me, that was my face shape, and after thinking and worrying about it for over 2 years, I eventually decided to have surgery. It took a very long time just to make up my mind to have surgery, but choosing the hospital was also a huge task..ㅎㅎ In the end, everything(?) about me would be decided by the hospital and doctor doing the surgery. I’m not exaggerating when I say I spent about a year looking for the hospital where I would have surgery. 2. Choosing the hospital Since it was such an important surgery, I searched like a crazy person whenever I had time, and if I encountered even one bad review or heard bad news through a private message, I boldly removed that hospital from my consultation list. My personality is originally the type that becomes almost pathologically obsessive once I fixate on something, so for hospital selection, I narrowed them down over several months by searching, asking around, and exchanging messages, first to 30 places, then 15 places, and so on. This is something I had felt for a long time, but I excluded large hospitals from the start. Honestly, if we put ourselves in the other position, I think the sense of responsibility is on a completely different level when you work as an employee at a big company versus when you are the owner and run the company yourself. And I thought this sense of responsibility would show in the surgical result and postoperative care, so I considered it very important~ Of course, I know very well that there are many hospitals that aren’t like that, but when I thought about the commonly discussed issue of salaried doctors, often called ghost doctors, and the possibility that someone who was not my assigned doctor, had never even consulted with me, and didn’t even know the problems with my face might operate on my face, I got chills and was really scared. No matter how famous a doctor at a large hospital is, what if that doctor doesn’t operate on my face? What if they only do the consultation, and once I’m actually in surgery and asleep, a trainee I have never even met comes in? Because of that, I excluded large, factory-style hospitals, where the possibility of salaried doctors seemed relatively high, from consultations entirely from the beginning. Besides that, I also collected photos from hospitals I liked and tried to figure out each director’s style?... Anyway, I wanted to say that I did my bestㅋㅋㅋ in my own way to get the best result, so this got long.
3. Surgical consultation First, I went to consultations at about six places, and the hospital I chose appealed to me the most. I think I had two consultations there, each lasting over 30 minutes. The consultation manager was also a nurse, so it was nice to be able to receive a professional consultation before meeting the director. Since you also spend a considerable amount of time consulting with the consultation manager, their expertise is important too. And they were really kindㅠㅠ More than anything, the image of beautyㅋㅋ that the director pursued was similar in direction to the image I had in mind~ And honestly, the most important thing in surgery is safety. No matter how pretty and flashy the outside looks, what’s the point if there are functional problems and pain? I thought that if functional or safety problems occurred, there would be no reason I had surgery and no reason to have surgery, so this was my top priority. So I expressed various concerns about safety, and I could feel the director’s sincerity? most clearly in their answers. That made me think I could trust them and leave it to them. Aesthetically, they also pinpointed exactly the complexes I had in mind, and when they diagnosed the direction for improvement, the diagnosis made sense to me. And in the end, I went through with the surgery.
4. After surgery Until about one week after surgery, I had a huge number of worries like other people. Even if the chance of side effects is low, the moment they happen to me, that probability becomes 100%, and I would suffer for the rest of my life. Around day 5, I think, the tip of my chin, and only one side at that, felt very numb and painful. Thankfully, it didn’t hurt when I was still, but when I made a certain expression like “oh,” it hurt so, so badly, as if something was being pulled with a stinging pain, so I couldn’t sleep and spent a long time searching about the symptoms again. Thoughts kept leading to more thoughts, like whether I would have to live like this forever or what if another side effect developed, and I even briefly regretted the surgery... I stayed shut in my room feeling depressed. But thankfully, that symptom disappeared a little after a week, and now that it has already been 6 weeks, I’m honestly living well without any particular nerve damage or functional problems, just not thinking about it and not worrying about anything. The swelling hasn’t completely gone down yet, so there is a slight feeling of firmness or clumping, but since I still need to wait and observe over more time, I’ve been meeting friends and living my daily life well without major problems.
5. Satisfaction First, I’m satisfied because the square jaw area that had bothered me seems to have naturally reduced. It doesn’t look too much like a pickaxe? and feels moderately slim. As for my forehead, it used to look very narrow and pressed down, making my face look stuffy, but as in the photos, compared with before, the overall atmosphere clearly feels brighter? Honestly, I can’t pinpoint exactly which part changed in this or that definite way, but when I look overall, I can feel that it’s better than before! So I’m satisfied because I think I became prettier in a natural wayㅎㅎ
I tried to write this in as much detail and honesty as I could, but I’m not sure if it was helpful~ Hoping it helps many people, I’ll end my 6-week review here. If you have any other questions, please leave a comment or send me a message:)
